EDIT: Looks like it has!!! Thanks :D
The game is stable, performance is good, but these updated materials tend to be real improvements over prior iterations and some of the new designs clash with the older materials that weren't given the same treatments (ironic because some of the new assets take after their OG Myst counterparts).
I can't imagine you guys are willing to spare resources and manpower continuing to update the assets and tweak the composition of the art until production ramps up on the collector's discs and it's a done deal, but the more realmyst 2000 assets updated and replaced, the more bugs fixed, the better.
Channelwood, Stoneship, and Selenitic's assets could still use some updating.
One thing I do still notice, as has been the case since the beginning, however, is that at the starting position, to the left is the hidden forechamber entrance. While looking this way and two more steps into the forechamber corridor, frame rate happens to tank, as though the whole of the island from this point of view were being rendered. Perhaps some LOD culling as has been implemented elsewhere (resulting in the pop-in others have mentioned, but it's better than tanking the frame rate if the objects are small enough when they appear) could be done here.
I had taken the originals when I was looking for references for my own remaster :P Looks like they majorly increased the poly counts for the majority of the models and are using better textures. Overall, a pretty nice (and free!) update.
I only ask because the difference is so striking!
Texture res of the original is also kind of.... bad by comparison haha http://ckopo.net/uploads/posts/2011-10/1318071221_real-myst-3.jpg
But besides that detail thank you for showing the difference!
That's entirely possible. I did get a new graphics card since I took that screenshot. I might have had it at a lower setting at the time. Thanks for clarifying :)
