Notorious understands. There is no reason this game needs to be 60fps for MP only races for the sake of "fairness." It's all a bunch of BS and something isn't being said on their end as to why.
If 120fps is unfair then why are the following allowed
Racing wheels - Sorry it's unfair vs controller
Ultrawide - Sorry unfair for 16:9 normies
Headphones - Sorry being able to hear your RPM quicker for shifting and other cars around you, too OP.
Wired internet - Sorry but it's not fair for wifi users to have a more consistent ping with less interruptions.
PC users - Most of them just use hacks anyways, just ban them all from playing MP.
etc. /s
Sorry but the 60fps cap is a joke and you're the problem if you accept it.
I bought GT7 to see how it compared, put it up for sale the same night.
To be perfectly honest, until GT7 is on pc, any comparison to that title falls in deaf ears. So comparing to another title which I don't have access to, this game is not as good in this aspect? Ok, who cares?
Apply the same to every person with a xbox and not a ps.
The point isn't what you don't have. The point is that 60fps locked to anything in MP other than a fighting game is pointless and archaic. This is 2023 and devs have to stop using this stuff as an excuse. The 60fps vs 120fps is more about immersion and making the game feel better for people playing on PCs. In the world of competition less than 1% of the users would ever be able to say the extra fps is making it an advantage for racing, if anything I bet you more people would say using a wheel vs a controller is an advantage.
But the comparison is pointless, because I don't have access to the other series, so to even bring it up is useless.
So the people that prefer GT will keep playing GT, and the people that prefer forza and don't have access to GT will play forza. What is to gain here?
Also, the point isn't an advantage gained by higher fps because of better game feel. The point is that in forza, higher fps actually makes you faster. In forza horizon 5, you can drive exactly the same car, the same line and be 7 tenths faster because how the game physics works. I'm pretty sure motorsport is locking at 60 because of that.
I understand why the devs won't come out and say the reason, if it really this, but in the absence of the possibility of the netcode being remade, locking at 60 is a perfectly reasonable compromise.
The only people complaining about it is the 1%.
If the lock is because of their ♥♥♥♥♥♥ engine they should fix it instead of doing nothing on it. FH5 has been out too long to just let them do nothing with FM. Also not all people who play GT and Forza hate the other series, I play both and love them both. This is simply, it's 2023 and the game shouldn't be capped at 60fps for MP. If it is, you have failed as a dev and your engine or reason is faulty.
Not a GT vs Forza topic, both are good series. I would hope Forza can get off their ass and do something about the 120FPS decision in MP.
The topic started as a comparison so I was adressing that, and it's also part of the reason why I don't bother with the 60 fps lock. The only people complaining is the 1% of pc players, and 60 fps is perfectly reasonable.
No, caping the game at 60 in multiplayer isn't "failing as a dev", you're only making the forza fanbase sound like drama queens like that. In fact, if that's the best they can do with the time allowes, it's a reasonable decision. When they released the video demonstrating their tyre phisics, they even say the game updates it 60 times per second, so it must simply not compute with the same precision on higher framerates and let you get out with things you wouldn't in normal circunstances.
It only needs to be a good game, not meet some arbritary standard from no good reason. It's like people complaining that the F1 games didn't had VR, well they added it, did it made the game any better? Only for the whiny 1%.
Forza Horizion will be long forgotten, i pity these developers and their lousy game engine to which they can't seem to fix.
