I actually disliked the controls, too. But actually, when you want to play strategically, turn based mode ([ENTER]) seems to work better anyway. (When you fight several enemies and need to be quick and choose your actions). Then you have all the time to deal with the controls.
You could see the old party in MM-X graphics. Once the editor is out im sure some fans will re create the maps of the old games.
Really hope someone will =^_^=
This changes the turn left and turn right keys into sidestepping and only turns if you hold down CTRL.
