Are mines really permanent?
Can they be removed when they've reached their production limit? Do we have to look at a dead mine for the rest of the our time on the map we are playing, or can we use the demolish tool to remove them?

You can demolish mine site once it's constructed.

It's a loooooong time since I used a mine. But my recollection (of vanilla) was that they cannot be removed. Or if nothing else, you cannot reuse the plot of land they occupy.

As I say, I don't use mines (or quarries) any more. I just trade for it.

No you cannot demolish the Mine and remove it from the map, it will leave a Permanent Scar on your Map. The same is true for Quarries, Once they are finished, and if you choose to demolish, then a giant Hole is left on your map.

I prefer to just leave the mines and quarries that are finished, as they are, as the scars they leave behind are much worse than the original buildings. Icon's are the remnants of that choice.

I'm a little confused. You said we cannot demolish them. Then you said if we choose to demolish them. Which is it? Can we or not? Even if it leaves a scar after demolishing, do we at least recover part of the materials we used to build them?

And yes, I'm playing vanilla.

You can "destroy" the mine or quarry, but not recover the space they used, you'll be left with a big quarry-sized hole where the quarry was, and some form of mine ruin I think for the ruin.

So while you can "demolish" them in the sense that you can use the demolish tool on the empty building, you can't totally "demolish" as in get rid of them.

sorry, Yes you can demolish them, but that doesn't get rid of them. It leaves an ugly scar on the land, and the land becomes permanently unusable. Which is why I say you can not demolish them. And at the same time you can demolish them.

Okay, I get that they leave a scar, as I would expect. What I would still like to know is if the workers recover some of the wood and stone that was first used to build the mine. I read in another thread that they recover some of that when they demolish a house, so do they recover that when they demolish a mine?

Also, does anything ever grow back over the scar that the demolished mine left? Because, in real life, places that are derelict and no longer used by humans often become overgrown with the native flora and fauna, depending on the climate, of course. So, does that happen in the game?

I don't remember if you get the supplies built back or not, cuzz I do not demolish the mines or quarries. As for the scar, well it remains an ugly stain on the landscape, and nothing grows back ever. The land is completely unusable ever again. Mines are permanent, until you use mods, then some have been made that are moveable, and or upgradeable, and or unlimited.
