Remove pasture = end infestation
I have a 13x13 pasture with 28 chicken in it. An infestation started and I immediately ordered the pasture to be destroyed. My idea was to just build a new one afterwards. But a few seconds after I gave the order, the disease just disappeared and apparently was "cured". I cancelled the demolition and it seems that everything is back to normal.

Has anyone else come across this? I guess I'm going to start doing this whenever my animals get infected.

I was shown this in a let's play on you-tube. Personally I keep one empty pasture for such purposes. As soon as you issue the command to "empty" an infested pasture, the infestation is cured. To destroy a pasture, the first step is to empty it.

Yeah, I know. But in my case I didn't have an empty pasture for the animals to go. I just ordered the pasture to be destroyed. I thought the animals would all be killed for having nowhere to be placed. But instead the infestation disappeared :D

You are right. Remove then reclaim the pasture will end infestation without any lost to the herd. That make pasture infestation the easiest to deal with. A bit of an exploit, I think. Same for crop field and orchard. Crop will still grow after the field is removed. Build a new crop field on top of the old one might even recover some crops. Trees take time to grow but get a few logs at the least. One reason that I stop playing with disaster on.

Another reason is that I have never been able to successfully deal with infestation, or fire. Doesn't matter how many workers, labors, wells I have, the herd will always die, building will always be destroyed. And, I have never had a tornado even with game last more than 200 years.

Disasters are not there to be survived, they should be seen as a damage limitation exercise.

You will always lose the initial building to fire. The trick is to layout buildings/wells in such a way as to prevent mass destruction should a fire breakout. If I only lose 2 or 3 buildings to fire then I see that as a job well done. To lose just one building is a bonus.

You shouldn't really lose any animals to infestation. Provided you have a spare pasture then immediately move the animals there. To help prevent re-infestation I completely destory and rebuild the infested pasture before moving animals back in.

Crops I force a harvest and just change to a new crop selected for next season. Orchards are my biggest pain but only because I grow several plots of the same type together (to supply my tavern) as the infection always seem to spread across all fields. I've even had it happen when all fields have been 5 squares apart. Note I only lose the infected field when I mix tree types.
