Squad music themes (+ defeat and victory tunes)?
Hey there. I was wondering if I could find those little squad tunes (like the pompous French one, or the British one with bagpipes) that play on the start of the match, on victory and defeat, somewhere in the gamefiles? I rummaged through the game folder and found nothing, that's probably because the game sounds are packed up or something. If one can't do that, could someone tell me if I could find them on the internet, or at least tell me the names of the tunes/marches all those cues are based on? Thanks in advance.

Boy, I'm glad I'm not the only one curious about the music. I don't think they're marches or offical tunes, especially since they seem to follow a theme depending on the faction (Germans sound typically low and has a saxaphone) while the French is lighter and upbeat.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but that's my take on it.

Well, after a quick googling on how to extract those ".package" files Verdun (and other games on Unity engine), I managed to find and to extract those audio files from the packages. I'm not sure I can post those on Internet, as these files may be the property of the Devs and may be protected by copyrights (not sure about this and need a confirmation), but if you're so eager and willing to get these files for your own personal use, you can get them by following this little instruction.

1) You need a program that can open files with .assets extension. I used Unity Assets Explorer by Haoose.
2) Open an .assets files that are located in Verdun_Data folder of your game. The audio files are mainly concetrated in resources, sharedassets1 and sharedassets2
3) You can find squad spawn music in sharedassets1 under the names
SpawnAlpenJaeger.ogg
SpawnBritish2.ogg
SpawnCanadianAssault2.ogg
SpawnChasseurs.ogg
SpawnLandser.ogg
SpawnPoilus.ogg
SpawnStoßtrupp.ogg (this one file I wasn't able to extract because it was showed as SpawnSto?trupp.ogg, and the program refused to extract it due to punctuation problems. BTW, is there a way of fixing it?)

Music played at match win, loss and draw is located in sharedassets2 under the names
FR_DE-Draw
DELose
FRLose

By searching throughout these files you'll be able to find other sounds (including speech, weapon sound, ambient sounds, and main menu music - YAY, Hunting the Hun for everyone!) and other interesting stuff (f.e. I found a file with a filename hinting on the possible addition of flamethrowers to the game ;) ).
Still, the point about the music source stands, do those tunes have a historical inspiration or are they original score?

Hi Matt. Wonderful to hear. Would it at same location be possible to get the "soundtrack" to the game, ie. the different march- and military songs being played in the game option menu?
Thanks in forward!

?

I can't seem to find that program anywhere, and I am having trouble getting other Unity extractors to work (also they only seem to want to extract FSBs not anything playable)

Could you upload that program and provide a link?

Unity Assets Explorer is a buggy piece of junk. I don't know how the heck you got the .ogg files out with it. I'm desperate for these sound files.

Holy smoke this thread is old. Well, duh, 2.5 years ago this method used to work, because Verdun's file structure was different. I don't think UAE works with modern Unity versions anymore.
