"Tackle the Sage from above" help.

No matter how I approach this mission, I always fail. From the starting point, I follow him and run up the boxes, rather than taking the ladder. This keeps me neck and neck with him until we hit the clothesline. I let him go first so I can be directly behind him when he jumps off of the next roof. He jumps off that roof and I insta-fail. It doesn't matter what I do.

I've tried atticking him while in high profile (kills him), I've tried tackling him on the rooftop just before he jumps (mission complete, but no side objective). I've tried jumping from walls, fountains, stairs, anything that might count as "above" and I fail. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

TL;DR: I'm waiting for him to jump off the roof, but I always end up killing him. Even when he's highlighted, pressing "E" just drops me off of the roof.

Yeah, this is not easy. But I think I got it later in the chase. A great place to get him is when he jumps to a wooden structure, then he runs left and jumps down to the floor and turns right along some grass. But you can stay above him as there is a building you can jump over to where he does the right turn. So you can try from up there. Where I actually got him was when he immediately jumps down the steps at the end of the grass and I got him by leaping from on top of the stone wall up the side of the steps.

I also think I somehow managed it when right near the end of the chase literally from the roof-top right before he reaches saftey. But that was pure luck.

BTW, I did some remapping as I found the 'E' just to complicated to work out which finger I could use. So I remapped 'E' to RMB, a bit similar to the previous AC games. Think I also remapped middle-mouse at the same time as 'E' now shows the location summary. The remapping wasn't specifically for this challange, as I kept messing the 'E' action during the combat and it's so much easier now with RMB !!

I FINALLY got it. Seriously one of the only missions in this game that I truly can't stand.

I got it really easy. Learn his path and go ahead for about 4 or 5 blocks through the streets. He will lost a lot of time climbing stuff so you will get ahead. At this point he will be on the ground so you just climb any building and jump for the prize.

Yeah I tried it about 16 times so far from everything. I ran ahead of his path to where the stone steps are that mbutton16 talks about. There is a tree there. I quickly climbed the tree to only the first rung and tackled him but it keeps saying I killed him. It's not as easy as K4PUTZ makes it sound. It always ends in death.

You need to be armed with fist, not knives blades or swords.
