For anybody on AMD wondering about this, SmartAccessMemory (ReBar) is enabled by default across all titles as long as you have it enabled in BIOS. And as SAM is a specific implementation of ReBar by AMD, it tends to have a more pronounced and consistent performance increase compared to NVIDIA's default implementation. So don't worry about folks here saying they only gained a couple frames - people on AMD GPU's should get a higher boost.

ReBar came in with 30 series GPU's, mine are 20 series so it's not something I've delved into.

Not true, many modern motherboards come with it enabled by default but there are some cheaper motherboards and various pre-builts that don't, I know this because I've built quite a few systems over the past year.

I always test new games with rebar. I either get an fps boost or no boost at all. I suggest everyone do the same.

nvidia don't enable rebar by default to no game at all. They implemented that as whitelist on driver level and validating every game ever is too much trouble. So they just don't. If you want, you need to force.

It optimises communication between Gpu and Cpu in order to achieve a slight performance increase usually around 5 - max 10%. However not all games like it and can actually have slightly less fps when using it.

How it works is you turn on REBAR in the BIOS BUT ..... Nvidia still decides which games can use it by "whitelisting' the game in the drivers. That's because REBAR helps in some games but hurts performance in others and in those games they don't add to the whitelist. Apparently someone at Nvidia decided the game didn't work right with REBAR so they didn't white list it. However it doesn't hurt to use Nvidia Profile Inspector to turn it on but you may or may not gain anything.

If I remember right you don't need REBAR with Direct Storage because it sort of enables it automatically so I suspect turning it on and off with Profile Inspector doesn't really do anything one way or the other. REBAR is kind of a precursor to Direct Storage and Nvidia's RTX IO

Resizable Bar, it keeps your GPU more stable during earthquakes.

Rebar is for the heavier GPUs. It prevents the card from sagging.
