RTX HDR is better than Native HDR
As title.
Am I the only one who think that RTX HDR works much better than Native HDR in this game?

I suspect a lot of the people complaining have no idea what actual HDR is supposed to look like and think that an absurdly bright and colorful image is what is what its goal is.

when you look at sun, HDR should do it's job, in this game, the sun is 300 nits if so,
native HDR is broken, better to use the RTX HDR

With RTX HDR should I leave the HDR off in game because it looks really good with both on and the settings set to the following For LG CX
Max Lum 1050
Paper White 750
Shadow Boost 7

And to qoute someone in this chat about hdr being broken in windows a lot of things are such Dolby Atmos as well. I hope someone fixes it in this game but its common in Windows in general. In this game dialog is broken and the only workaround I could find was turning the vocal on my Onkyo to +5 but it almost sounds a channel is missing probably Center and the AVR is trying to compensate.

no you should disable HDR in game, disable auto HDR in windows, enable RTX HDR

Thanks I seen a tutorial leaving auto hdr enable but it seems to look with settings you recommend.

There is a fix for the max luminance slider not working - credit to Ersh over at the HDR Den Discord server: https://discord.com/channels/1161035767917850784/1220402379321770027/1220507068054638622

Ironic. Guy who doesn't know what proper HDR looks like saying people don't know what proper HDR looks like. Defending objectively, provably broken HDR implementation.

I can't get rtx HDR to work.
The filter is added, but it always says "effect will turn on after game restart" but the sliders are always greyed out.
Tried it in different games and it's the same.
win 11, 4090, latest drivers, latest nvidia app, auto hdr off

Naaa HDR is not working properly. Maxcll should reach on whatever you set the max luminance option on bright objects, but it doesn’t. It’s like it’s capped. It peaks on whatever you set paper white on. So the whole brightness feels flat…

Do you have multiple monitors? Because Nvidia HDR only works with a single monitor.

But there is a work around using: https://www.nexusmods.com/site/mods/781

Everyone was praising the company doing the port, how can something as major as HDR not be working correctly lol.

I mean, it's just one thing that can be patched in. No need to ♥♥♥♥ on the entire company for one thing which isn't even completely broken.

It just needs to be hand configured to work right for now.

It's garbage like AutoHDR.

There are better solutions using ReShade or ... Special K (full disclosure, I wrote it and am not trying to self-promote). The ReShade solution's more complicated to setup, but seems popular.

Nonetheless, native HDR is fixed now with a patch you can either apply using Special K's latest experimental installer ( https://sk-data.special-k.info/repository/SpecialK_24.3.23.exe ), or from nexusmods (if you have an account) or HDR Den's Discord server.

Even with the native HDR working, you're going to want ReShade to fix the game's HDR black floor. Frankly, just get on Discord and join HDR Den :P All the details are there.

Using mods instead of an official Nvidia feature?
No thanks.
