nope had to replay the whole campaign

OP might want to edit their post or risk a ban. Save files are stored on the Steam Cloud as far as I know. I have not checked for a local save file.

I purchased this game after trying it out, as you will. To transfer the save location, first start a new game file so it generates all the necessary folder. Then from the alternate save location, copy these two folders: \\remote\out\save and \\remote\out\profile.

Move those two folders to the steam save location, which will typically be:

\\Program Files(x86)\Steam\userdata\xxxxxx\239140\remote\out\

And remember to support your developers!

Hi all! I have a question. I had no money buying the game before and I really wanted to try it so I downloaded a pirated version and played it for a couple of hours. Now that I have the money I bought the game and want to know if I can use the saves from the pirated version in the original without a problem.

Of course you can. Here is the easiest way.. Run your legit copy one time long enough for it to make a save. Exit the game and find the new save folder.

Legal copies will be something like this
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\7*****5\239140\remote\out\save - save_coop_0.sav

Illegal Reloaded copies - Slighty different from legal copy.
C:\ProgramData\Steam\RLD!\206420\storage

Other copies will be stored inside of the game folder.

Once you have found your old save, copy it. Copy it to your new save folder and overwrite the new save. That is it.

Please guys buy the game.. It helps us have more good games.. Techland doesnt deserve people doing this to them. You know who you are, we know who you are. You do not have a mouse icon next to your name that says "has dying light " when you hover your mouse pointer over it. That is also why DAIBLO gave the wrong location for the save file, he gave the location of an illegal copy..

Thanks for the help. I (shamefully) got the "trial version" but it is so good that I just barely purchased it and the season pass. I'm stoked that I can transfer my save over.

What do you mean with long enough? How longh? ....

Run the legit copy until the game has gotten passed the prologue and has created an autosave or at least has let you make a save. This will allow the game to create the necessary directory for your saves. Once that is done, you'll have the proper folder to move your old save file into.

Lol uh i think techland has made enough from the game and all its DLC. its not going to lose a huge ammount of money through that way. think of a situation where a company has been shutdown or struggled to release a game because so many people pirated the game(s). It really makes a minuscule difference and overall it means that if people like the game enough they can buy it later on..
