Just did it way easy by distracting them into large bundles and then using windmill power skill tree ability. took me about 7 firecrackers and 60 seconds
on normal, the way i did it is using the "reach" of the axe, as being too close increases the chance of "missing" i.e. decapitation or just mutilated arms. firecrackers are huge help. let the zombies gather round and start hacking
whirlwind skill is actually not helpful in this imo as more often than not, it just pushes zombies away instead of hacking them...and the recovery is too long as well
1 firecracker = 1 axe swing. depending how compressed the group are you can get 4-6 in one swing
*breathes into paper bag*
Okay, okay, I've calmed down. But really, his absurdly slow swing with the axe is what makes this so infuriating for me. I've almost got it, but I just wanted to rant about how brain-dead Crane is.
Also, these quests better end with you challenging the Psycho to do something that leads to his agonizing death.
EDIT: So, after finally beating it, he attacks me, saying "THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE." REALLY wish he would've followed me out of the area so I could lure him into a crowd of zombies and watch him get eaten alive.
I really, REALLY hate those in games who put a stupid, arbitrary time limit on missions for no reason. It's my dream to see a game where the main character gets fed up with that bullcrap, and punishes the NPC accordingly.
Looooool killing that bastard was the most satisfying kill in the game...same bro, i wish we could lure him out to a horde of zombies and see him get eaten
1) Use all the opportunities available to you, particularly those that are out in plain sight and are, consequently, ignored (or, at least I've read nothing OL that mentions these).
The big problem for many (myself included) with the Psycho Challenges is being tasked with acts that you don't normally have experience doing. How many previous times have you been asked to "break legs"? There is a technique for doing this and it doesn't come naturally. Or, how about cutting a zombie in half? Again, there is a technique to do so. You may have done so in the past before this set of challenges, but have you done so intentionally and to every zombie you encounter? Are you adept at 2-handed weapons? I wasn't and there are significant ramifications to doing so and the delay between weapon swings is hard to adjust to without prior experience.
So, you are facing tasks that are new, using weapons that may be new for you, and you are expected to do this within a time limit that is tight even with experience.
What everyone seems to ignore is the practice field that is provided for you by the game. Jeffrey/El Jefe is located in a safe area the contains a trader, your stash, and a bed. It is also strategically located with not one, but two areas crawling with zombies just over the fence from the safe area. So, go to the trader and buy a baseball bat if you don't have one in stash, or a 2-handed ax (for the 5th challenge). Jump over the fence and use the two fields of zombies to practice with unfamiliar weapons to develop timing and technique without the restriction on a ticking clock. The zombie mix you find in these two practice fields are exactly like the mix you will encounter in the challenges so you get experience on how to handle the different zombie attack types.
2) Without exception, it is almost impossible to complete any of the Psycho Challenges without the strategic usage of firecrackers. Firecrackers serve as the "sheep dog" for corralling zombies. For these challenges, more is better than less and timing for throwing firecrackers is as important as the location to which the firecrackers are aimed. These techniques can also be utilized in the above-mentioned practice fields while testing the weapons before entering the timed challenge.
I suppose that gamers with more experience than I can do these challenges without these techniques, but I found that my success in each challenge became so much easier with the real live practice. When familiarity with weapon and firecrackers become second nature, the timer can be literally ignored.
As an example, the 5th challenge calls for using a 2-handed ax to cut 30 zombies in half. Before following my own advice, the best I could achieve was 14 within the time limit (1.5 minutes, I believe). After 20 minutes in the "practice fields" next to the Jeffrey/El Jefe, I completed the challenge on my first attempt with 23 seconds to spare.
One last recommendation. Rest on the safe area bed before attacking a challenge. For some reason, the challenges I completed (all five) were easier early in the morning.
Rank: Legendary 44. I have 5 points in two-handed weapons.
Been trying the firecrackers with the windmill spin thing, but that just ain't doing the trick. I am just wasting firecrackers.
I am going to have to assume that this challenge is nearly impossible to solo. Please nerf.
Added you.
It's quite difficult to do solo though. Best to have co-op help.
