Dying Light

Dying Light

One of the most ATMOSPHERIC games I've ever played
The performance on my GTX 980 SLI setup is just atrocious... but graphically... and artistically... this is one of the most mesmerizing open world games I've ever played.

The lighting in this game is the star of the show. Or rather, the sun is. As you progess through the day, and approach the evening, the sun keeps changing, and the atmosphere is so thick you can cut it with a knife.

What did you guys think about the fog haze on your first morning? - pretty amazing, if you ask me.

I sure hope the developer doesn't give up on trying to optimzie this game, because this is one damned fine game. In fact, this game is everything I had hoped Dead Island would've been. IMO, this is the best single player zombie game on the market.

there is a nice little reference to/wink at the metro games so its not surprising to me they nailed the atmosphere

No question about it, the performance is terrible... just terrible... but the guys who are calling us fools for pre-ordering are really missing out. Right now, I don't want to be playing any other game.

This is a triple-A title all the way.

Yes!

That's exactly what I was thinking. There's a real METRO feeling about this game. Absolutely.

When I wake up in the Tower, my reaction is like "WOW", i spend almost 30 mins walk around the tower and take screenshot to show my friend.

I agree.

In fact I think this is the best zombie game I've played in a while and a very well done open world game.

I have some nitpicks and the performance should be better but I am really enjoying this game.

So much better than Dead Island.

I like how challenging it is and the added climbing/parkour is great. It's also one of the few games I've played were the side missions are actually interesting and relevent.

The crafting and skills are also well implemented. Which is something I don't think is usualy done well in games like this.

It is probably the best zombie apocalypse game available at present (imo), and it does look great (most of the time). It's clearly still got some way to travel towards full optimisation, but it will probably get there eventually, via a few patches in the coming months.

I'd prefer a true 24-hour clock instead of the artificial construct we have in-game at present. Hopefully PC mods will come to rescue there, and again with gun mods (why is it that only in a zombie apocalypse is the world suddenly devoid of guns?)

7 hours in, and the game is definitely shaping up to be a genre favourite for me. Gotta love killing zombies.

First of all I would try disabling SLI and see if that improves things. When TB did his Stream on Monday night he had to disable SLI. It might take a short while before Nvidia gets a profile that works properly or for Techland to patch the game.

Yes, the Tower is like one of the hubs in Metro. Just superb.

Yes, a lot of things are coming together... the parkour, the atmosphere, the melee combat, the challenge of surviving the night, the crafting... it's all just working.

The more I play, the more I'm starting to realize how good this game is. I was hoping for an average game, but right now Dying Light is surpassing my hopes by quite a margin.

I've completely forgotten about GTA V for the time being. And, honestly, every other game in my Steam library.

It's rare for a game to capture me like this. It really is.
