Legendary grade Firearms - Why ?
There doesn't appear to be any difference between the different grades of Firearms. The Legendary Rifle has identical stats to the Blue/Purple ones.

Am I missing something here ?

Can it be upgraded? I only ask because I just discovered last night the Bozzak bow is upgradeable.

Every firearm I have found, regardless of quality, cannot be upgraded.

I just got to questioning why they would make different grades for them when they have identical stats and are even worth the same amount of money.

Strangely, the shopkeepers sometimes sell guns that do way less damage than the ones I found 15 levels ago.

Guns don't scale with you like melee weapons instead they're set at specific damages from the first one you find til the last. Police Rifle does something like 178 damage, military 130's, american handgun 120's or so, german handgun 180's etc. The lower damage ones have higher fire rates and vise versa. The devs probably wanted guns to be the last resort and even then I've got a short sword that does the same damage in one swing as a shell from a shotgun blast so they're kinda pointless... unless you're fighting humans and even then ehhh.. lol

But yeah the legendary guns are just as good/bad as a blue.

I'm going to mod it so the higher quality guns have either increased clip capacity or slightly better damage, as well as a price to reflect that.

Right now I'm finding my Rifle extremely useful for taking out those spitting guys from range. It also makes any encounter with humans much easier since they can't block/deflect bullets like they can melee attacks.

Mod a .50 cal barret in and I'll download it.

Not really the scaling for firearms is just not working correctly

Police rifle from a guy at the gas station safehouse (part of that bad dude, reyes or whatever his name is, quest where you look for his missing squad) does 257 or something, only gun I kept this entire game. With gun shots attracting lots of zombies and very limited ammunition for the guns I really dont see a point. I have a double barell as it does 1500dmg but thats just for later, when more of those big guys, destroyers or whatever theyre called, show up.
Personally I think guns would make this game more like every other zombie shooter or even far cry, which would make it loose all the fun that comes from bashing and chopping zombie heads off.

I've got a police rifle that does something like 240 damage instead of the usual 180ish. Found that quite early on...

Why the hell don't firearms scale with you?

They do, when you start putting your legendary level points in Firearm Damage.

Has it always been like that? Haven't played in 10 months

the update is new, it upscales firearm damage to near ridiculous, like for example my firearms level under the legend skill tree is only 2 and that alone gives me a 100% damage increase with guns so my nice orange Engraved Semi Auto Shotgun which at base has a firepower of 2550 now has a firepower of 5100. so for people complaining about guns in the game not scaling up before this is the solution.
