Save data deleted

I downloaded the unturned april fools thing after it came out and when I got on the game my saves all got deleted. Anyone know why or how i could get my saves back.

Sorry bud, but unless you have manual backups and save files have been damaged or deleted, you can't.

I've always been an advocate of periodic manual backups with DL. You might consider it for the future.

How is that even possible since steam keeps the saves backed up in there cloud

the game has steam cloud, so thats not possible, unless you deactivated it for some reason...

And if his default settings are to not have Steam Cloud on, then of course it would be off. Which means it is POSSIBLE to have no backup save.

Now, supposedly there is an actual backup in the directory anyway, but I have not checked to see how or where.

Best procedure is to backup your saves periodically, as even a Steam Cloud save can become corrupted.

Your saves, if not in the Steam Cloud, are saved in the following path:

first you will have to find your Steam folder,

Then Userdata, then the folder with your SteamID#, which will probably be a long 7 or more digit number and probably be the only folder available, and then 239140 Folder (which is the number for Dying Light.

There you will find the Remote folder, then Out, Then you will see Save folder, where your saves are.

You can either occasionally back up the entire Remote Folder, or the entire Save folder, or just go find the saves and back them up via copying and pasting, then renaming them if you like.

Steam Cloud saves should also be saved on the disk as well, but in a different area. You might look at the PCGamingWiki.com sight, look up Dying Light and see most of the info there for info. It is usually correct for most games. However, you can just search all your likely save locations, like AppData folder, or Documents, or the entire Steam Directory and often find it that way.

I got a new save which also got deleted for no reason. I tried going into my steam folder but it doesn't show me anything. 2 Saves have been deleted for no reason.

If you ever notice that your saves disappeared when you start the game, close the game right away. DO NOT create a new save.

You can then launch the game and see your save again.

Don't know why this happens, but it deletes my saves twice.
