Legendary weapons (orange)

Where or when can you find it, I'm at 69% story max lv 25 survivor but don't see any orange in the shops.

Orange is rare.

But merchants do sell it, alongside purples.

In the following there is an area that guarantees you an orange weapon. You can also check out the GRE crates in quarantines that have a good chance of having an orange, though you are still at the mercy of RNG.

Merchant list varies based on difficulty. Set on Nightmare and you should see orange more frequently (but you'd have a hard time continuing story so I'd recommand switching back)

Thats not a troll.

Merchants sell them after level 25. Best way is to go to the main safe house with one. Sleep and check. Repeat this till you find what you want. I finally got my Orange Semi doing this.

Well, that's really weird. All my levels are 11 and merchants always have orange weapons for me. Purple as well, though I don't think I can buy most of those yet.

I play on nightmare and get oranges regularly, and there is ALWAYS purples on display.

The issue here is Hard mode, just like you have decreased chance of finding Orange and higher tier weapons on harder difficulties, in exchange of tiny chance on finding gold tier weapons.

On Hard mode, vendors won't sell ammunition and materials, I'm also not sure of the chance of Orange tier weapons, but it is certainly lower than Normal and Nightmare mode. I haven't farmed vendors actively on lower difficulties so that's why I had no memory of this. I always knew that ammunition and materials were disabled in vendors on Hard mode but I wasn't aware about legendary weapons being affected.

What you want to do is switch to either Normal or Nightmare mode if you want to vendor farm and see legendary weapons more commonly.

np! They also come up on normal, by the way. I'm playing on normal and every vendor has at least one purple and/or orange (but then again, my levels are all 11, so maybe there's more at higher survival levels).

I think they were trying to do something experimental with hard mode, but it kinda fell through.

Like for instance, flashlight have batteries on hard mode, not normal or nightmare.
