GRE are probably the stupidest company in zombie fiction.
So in just the opening prolog I was absolutely astounded at just how they created a company so inept they managed to make the Umbrella Corporation look like SpaceX in comparison.

Lets analyse this. They're plan; To send ONE man into a zombie filled city to retrieve a folder of unknown contents. This one man has zero training for the task they gave him, of any possible type except he knows the absolute basics of how to use a firearm. He doesn't even have the tools and equiptment he needs to do the job and instead was given equiptment that was deterimental to his mission that GRE would even know is deterimental (The unsilenced handgun that draws zombies.) and with a complete lack of basic medical supplies including Zombrex for when he'd inevitably be bite. He clearly wasn't briefed about the layout of the city, the inhabitiants factions in the city, the zombies, litarally nothing. He's absolutely clueless about everything.

It gets even more halarious as GRE decides the optimal insertion time is in the middle of broad daylight with a high altitude opening into a dangerous area that they clearly know is controlled by raiders that go after supplies the second they drop.

By sheer luck this one man immediately comes into contact with the one helpful group of people in the city he didn't even know existed and he needs to infiltrate and it's immediately obvious that he has questionable loyalty to the company which should immediately have disqualified him for wetwork of this type in the first place. The company didn't even think to provide him a false identity for infiltration so he instead just uses his real information instead not even attempting to lie.

...I can only conclude that this man is actually a day 1 GRE intern that they just handed a gun and a parachute then they put him on the plane because I got literally nothing of how a soldier/merc/anything could be so halariously uneverything. In 30+ years of watching/playing all things zombie this man and the company that sent him takes the cake.

Everything OP said is true, everyone knows this story is ♥♥♥♥, its the gameplay that keeps us zombie killing lovers coming back
Same, really.

I'll forgive Yet Another Zombie Game from having Yet Another Zombie Story for the main game and expansion, when overall it's much more enjoyable to just play at your leisure.

I admit it's still amusing to poke fun at it though.
Idk i kinda feel sometimes the devs wanted to hit every cliche zombie story thing, dimwit guy becomes the hero, big bad ass bad guy kidnaps the girl, etc. etc. i do like a good story and hope the next one is much better. I hope we dont play as crane i really dont like him, one second he is a friendly nice guy helping people out and then sometimes he is an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to random people, example is one mission for zaid when he makes you his flares crane is just a ♥♥♥♥ to him, the guy seems half mentally challenged and was just like hey we can be friends and cranes a class A ♥♥♥♥, either make up your mind crane lol be an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ or the nice guy cant be both you bipoler loon.

All in all tho even with the story flaws, the fact i hate the main chacter, this is the best zombie game out hands down, i can hop in here and bash zombie heads in for hours and enjoy myself, if this game had more survival it would be perfect. Need to eat and drink, build up anywhere as a base, etc.

Just came to point out that the GRE is an oganization more along the lines of the UN or NATO. It has an agenda and a mandate, sometimes in complete contradiction to the other.

But yeah, its the best single player zombie game ever made by a good long shot. Cheesy storyline aside, the art direction, atmosphere, mood and tone of everything is spot on. Nothing quite as nerve racking as you are looting and killing zombs all day, to start hearing the wind blow harder, and the volatiles giving their morning cries as the sun begins to set. In my opinion the idea of the special virals and volatiles arent even needed, although it would be a less exciting game in some aspects, the common infected and common virals would have been able to carry a game and story pretty good. Admittedly though at the very end of The Following, techland has seemed to hit their stride when it comes to dealing with the mutations of the virus, love what they did there. I definitely look forward to Dying Light 2.

Also, keep playing through the campaign and pay attention to the details. Remember Kyle Crane is an Operator, he is likely ex-special forces just trying to make a good buck with a private organization.
Yea when cranes doing the training on the crane he talks about his "skills" says he is just kinda good at it i guess and with the GRE isnt thier the other company the ministry or whatever and they like compete? I feel like crane was so washed up ex bad ass and they were like hey we got a lot of money for you and dumped him into harran without tlling him anything, he had no idea about zombies and prob thought he wa going against humans and thought he would be in and out but it turned into the common zombie story

All characters and locations used in this game are fictious.
Any resemblance to clichéd stereotypes is purely coincidental.

Speaking of this tho funny how they both kinda do the same thing, dont really cure the virus they just kinda subdue it. you have to keep taking it... hmmmm wierd how much things have in common

Not really weird to me. Single use cure wouldn't be very useful for plot or gameplay mechanic unless it would be one of the end goals for the game.

Why? I was just sharing my 2 cents. No need to invalidate your own view on the matter.
