What the hell is up with the fingerprints?
I have no idea how it works. Whenever I fingerprint someone, I look at the name of said person, both on her IDs and on the fingerprint result. If it's the same, I let her in. But half the time, I get a "wrong picture, you're screwed" or "uncorrect weight, try again sucker". Some foreigners now have supplement IDs with their fingerprints on it, but not all of them.

More or less, whenever there's a fingerprint case, I know I'm gonna get cautionned half the time, for no understandable reason. I'm sure I'm missing something, but I don't know what.

Overall, while I understand the whole "♥♥♥♥ty interface to make things more realistic", I'm at lost as to why the rules are in fact, barely explained at all. You are told "Check fingerprints", but no one explains you how it works. I'm at day 17 and I still don't know if there's a way to check entrants' height...

Edit: must be, I just got screwed over it...

yes there is, and it has nothing to do with the finger prints (for height).

The access permit has information of their height, weight, reason for visiting, etc whcih all must be checked agaist the person standing in front of oyu. There are lines behind the personthat show their height (like a mug shot) and their weight is shown in bottom of the desk wehre they come in (next to where daily paper comes through.

I found the height thingy. Once again, it's very obtuse. At no point was I told "the height measurement tool is behind the person". Plus, it's hard to use. A guy looks like he's 180cm when his ID says 169. You check, and it answers "matching data". LuL.

As for the fingerprints, nop. Still haven't found out how to know if I should let someone passes or not.

Most of the time, you will only need to take fingerprints to verify an entrant's identity if they do not match their passport photo or if different names appear on different documents. Sometimes, the entrant will be seeking asylum and will provide you with a Grant of Asylum instead of an Entry Permit; this forces you to take the entrant's fingerprints.

When you take the entrant's fingerprints, there are two questions you'll need to answer.

1. Does the entrant's fingerprints match what's on the database? The easiest way to check is to go into Inspection Mode and highlight the slip that the entrant gives you and what gets printed out by the computer. If the sample matches what's on the record, then you have proven the entrant's identity and must let them through.

2. Is this entrant using more than one name? To do this, you will need to check to see whether or not the entrant's record lists an alias. If the record says "No known alias" but the entrant has something like, say, "John Smith" on his passport but "Jack Smith" on his entry permit, you must deny or detain.

Of course, if you're having trouble with fingerprints, you can simply not take them. If you spot a discrepancy in the entrant's name, appearance, or height, you can instantly deny them and save yourself a lot of hassle.

Height can be checked against the wallchart that is behind every single entrant. Weight can be checked against the scales in the bottom right corner of the booth.

My advice in this game is to use Inspection Mode for anything you're not sure on. Not sure if the entrant's height is correct? Click the entrant themself and what's stated on the entrant form. Same for passport photos. Instead of manually checking fingerprints, let Inspection Mode do the work for you. Also, make sure to read through the bulletin before you start work each day and refer to the Rule Book whenever you need help.

I always checked the fingerprints with inspect mode, the visual appearance seems to be random and unrelated to actual match. Anyway how do i check someone if they have "perfect vision" without inspect mode?

its only a discrepency if they're wearing glasses, so youd have to compare the actual person with the perfect vision description

You hand the fingerprint stamp card to the individual. They return the same slip with their prints on it, and a second card is made available to you bearing fingerprints of the person on the documents. Compare the patterns on the two cards. They should be exactly the same or very similar. I usually deny anybody who doesn't have completely matching prints.

Nah, just check their prints versus the database prints with the discreprency checker. It works automagically and eliminates guesswork.
