Do I actually need this much money?
I'm on day 17 or 19 or something (the day before the Son's Birthday), and if I pay for basic expenses, I've got $345. I've got the option to buy a gift, as well as to move to a class 7 apartment. Normally today would be the day that I skip food and heat, leading to the son being sick the next day, but even though I'm only roleplaying to a minimum, it feels harsh to have him get sick on his birthday.

And since I've had him sick every other day since starting, I figured I'd get the gift. But if I'm going to do frivolous things like this in the name of decency towards characters that never make an appearance, maybe I should upgrade my apartment as well.

So I'm just wondering - will I ever benefit from having this much cash, or is it a waste to not buy gifts and upgrade my apartment at this point? This is actually my semi second playthrough, as I accidentally deleted my main branch on like day 21 before, and on that save I only had like $65 at this point, so I kind of feel like I'm ahead.

I would buy him the gift just in case something horrible happens if you don't, but I have never made it that far so I have no idea what you should do!

Seemed plausible, so I decided to check (I didn't even know there was an easy mode lol), but nah, it's unchecked. I get a solid 11-13 people processed a day, and my family only gets food and heat every other day, meaning +30 credits. This results in the son being sick every other day (everyone else can deal with it). Even if they all got sick though, it wouldn't cost 30 credits to buy medicine for 4. On the other hand, I'll never lack the money to buy his medicine.

I also always accept reasonable bribes.

There's a steam achievment if you can get all the way up to the class 5 apartment. Sounds like you're on the way.

Fair enough, but is there an achievement for hoarding money? And more importantly, is there a large bill or crisis? I suppose I'll find out soon, since I don't intend to accidentally delete my save this time around. Basically I would live in complete luxury, but only if my livelihood is assured at this point. lol.

Once your savings hit triple digits, your livelihood is assured. There is no achievement for hoarding loads of money alone, but you would be able to afford one of the Good endings towards the end of the game.
