There is an option that can be used on the shortcut (I'm not sure if it will work on the steam target). Here's the commandline option that switches to software sound:
-swa
2. Click on properties
3. In the general tab click "set launch options"
4. Add the --softwareaudio command in there
5. ???
6. Profit!
Could you get me a step-by-step on that?
1. right click the speaker icon in the taskbar and click playback devices
2.left click "speakers" or whatever you use and click configure to make sure your speakers are set right.
3 go back to step 1 and click properties and go to advanced, click the drop down bar to change the bit rate (try a lower one). (im using 24bit 48000hz)
see if it works.
otherwise look at the software configurator that came with your sound card. mine had a soundblaster control panel and i set the output there. ( i chose dddts in the panel instead of ddlive its in the cinematic setup)
if you have a soundcard and software audio they are all listed in the playback devices pane, so you can choose which sound device you want to use. Personally i turn off onboard audio and dont use the nvidia one so i only have my sbz in the playback devices, but it doesnt matter just choose the one you want to use and configure it.
hope it helps
Was really looking forward to this game, but I refuse to use onboard sound when I have spent out the cash for a dedicated soundcard and on top of that, with the success this game has seen, they should have patched this issue by now. I also refuse to lower my sound quaility or mess around with regedits and workarounds just to get it too work.
Devs, you need to debug this issue please, I wonder how many other people have tried this game only to uninstall it due to sound issues and havent bothered to report it.
