Endgame question - survivability
Hey there, so i gave PoE1 a shot after finishing PoE2 and disliking its endgame etc..

I have arrived at PoE1 mapping and while i do alot of damage, i have a rough time surviving there.
I play a berserker with tectonic strike and it deals like average ~57 up to 100k damage per hit, i got 45% armor damage reduction and every resistance is above 73%, except chaos, its -24%,
including 1655 Health

Im curios as of how i can increase my survivability, because alot of times i die in 2-3 hits max on tier 1 maps, sometimes i just get instagibbed, especially when opening monster boxes due to a freeze or sth.

Is there anything im missing or is it just keep farming and improve gear? I miss the faceroll times before endgame, the increase in difficulty just hit me as bad as it did in PoE2, except its not as bad as of now in PoE1.

1600 life is crazy low for mapping I think. Even my squishy glass canon lightning arrow archer had 2600 life when I started to do maps. And I mean she dies quick but I can do yellow maps just fine and I'm at around 3k life rn.

Whats the best way to increase life? Like my current items dont add a lot, i got some defensive passives with %life added but that doesnt sum up this much.

Im curious if i went out with too much damage in the skilltree but idk, since certain fire immune mobbs tank so much i gota skip them

Im also missing certain upgrades for rings in example, like those oils havent found alot of them

From what I gathered in my time looking for beginner guides and stuff. I was told having about +100% life from the skill tree is a good number to shoot for, if you got a lot less than that you might have gone for too much damage. Probably depends a bit on the build tho.

Some mobs being resistant or downright immune to your type of damage is a normal thing tho. There are map modifiers you should avoid because it nerfs your character too much and monsters (usually the rare/yellow ones) that will be too hard/take too long and should be skipped.

Definitely get life on your gear as well. My current main character has in between + 100 and 120 life on most pieces of gear and it already feels pretty squish. I get one shotted sometimes.

There is only one way in the game to make enemies immune to damage.
And that is blowing up expedition remnants, and they tell you they will do that.

And yes, you want like double that amount of life starting maps.
Even more if you are melee.

So flat life on pretty much all gear pieces except weapon.
And % increased maximum life from tree.

Would also recommend to join the poe discord and use the help channels there, they are moderated, unlike steam here and posts usually attract trolls pretty fast

Alright thank you. Got one more ring piece that gives me like 350+ extra life had to fiddle around in order to fit the resistances again.
Guess ill check out my passives if i can remove some damage and add more life instead

Oh thank you for the additional info and correction, I will also check the discord. I pretty recently got to maps myself so I don't know everything.

aim for something like 4-5k life. if you're armour stacking get molten shell guard skill. fortify on leap slam or some other skill. look into endurance charges.

For the Strongboxes that freeze you, those are a very common way to die.

Craft Chill & Freeze immunity on a Flask with Alternations.

Gotcha.
Got one flask of these, was just always too slow to hammer down that button because i wasnt used to.
Its actually really nice that endgame, i like how i can feel the per hour progress.
It became alot easier since my posting to deal with tier1 maps
