Yeah... probably an item filter. I'd suggest one of Neversink's from filterblade.xyz

You can customize them quite extensively, or just download the default ones and install them yourself.

What he means is, focus on your defense layers first, then damage. You need at least 3 defense layers. Armor/Block/Fortify, Evasion/Spell Suppression/Block, Energy Shield/Block/Spell Suppression. There are plenty of options. Stretch your tree out to get them, or die.

There are numerous others. Life Regen, Life Leech, Mind over Matter. The list really goes on.

Energy shield isn't really a defensive layer except in the case that you get a large buffer of HP. That can be life or ES or mana with MoM type effects.

Get awakend Poe Trading. It's a overlay that allows you to check the value of items.

If you get into the game, wait for a stash sale and buy premium stashes. These allow you to trade.

Thats pretty much all the mandatory stuff i would do before i would actually start playing. Theres a lot of optional stuff too that would help but that would be just too long to list..

No one mentioned pay2win, and not only this but there are other ways to trade in the game or through the PoE website. And even if stash tabs were the only way to trade that still doesn't qualify as P2W since you aren't actually winning anything.

New avatar to new you maybe? Perhaps this year you can finally beat the campaign?
