Quest Problem

Okay so, me and a friend started playing today, we arrived at the quest where you have to kill Merveil in her cave, we managed to reach the boss but in the fight my friend died and respawned at the city.

I managed to kill the boss and go to the next step of the quest where you exit the dungeon and go to the forest to begin Act II, but my friend still have to complete the quest

Here comes the problem: we grouped togheter again and went to the cave with the teleport, and we did again the dungeon, but when we arrived to the throne room in Merevil's Lair, the boss didn't appear and my friend could not complete the quest.

Is there any way for us to do the quest together again even if i completed it, or has he to do it solo? Thanks in advance.

Easiest way is to start a new instance of the boss lair.

When you portaled in you should have exited the door back to the caverns. Then Ctrl-click on the door to Merveil's cave. This would allow you to enter a new instance where the boss would still be alive.

Instances also only exist for 8-12 minutes if no one is in them, before they reset.

You must create a new instance. In this case, your friend, that did not complete the quest must create the instance. Hold control and click on the waypoint and choose new. This also works between zones usually. When the cursor hovers at a zone, you notice it's highlighted white. Hold control and click during this and choose create new instance.

This is frequently used for farming/grinding as well.

In this case, it can also be as simple as him trying 8-15 minutes later (The approximate time an instance lasts), and you then joining his game.

It's important to note that the Cavern of Anger AND Merveil's Lair are grouped together. You can't simply go outside of merveils lair and reset the instance. The same is true of Vaal in the Pyramid Apex, and even Dominus with the Upper Scepter. You probably ran into your 'old' instance for the Cavern of Anger which was the instance you just cleared. Make sure it's a fresh instance, and she will appear. Good luck :)
