Also this is a standard control scheme used in hundreds/thousands of other games. So your complaint really has more to do with the industry standard than POE specifically.
If you play on Console, the UI system is made only for gamepad exclusively
Although on console you have to mash L1/R1 & Dpad left,up,right to use your potions, which is not feasible in the slightest in endgame, only with a Pro Controller with back buttons is Path of Exile console playable
Not having to click on everything (auto-loot) in the game's options would be also nice to have for some new players starting out.
I'd very much play more if this had some controller capability/UI ported over to the PC version as an option. PoE is already on consoles so they have no (real) excuse. Even WF finally put in proper complete controller support with dynamic on-the-fly switching between controller and PC prompts.
They very well could port over the controls. The problem is that they have made a very conscience decision to not do so. The reason being that all the mechanics, skills and gameplay are balanced around the way movement is handled already. There is a reason that the console version is so separated from the pc version. The games are quite different in how they are balanced and played.
So in short, they can but they won't.
Don't use consoles as argument. Consoles also have a crap auction house. They had to include controllers on the console port because what else could they do, really?
There are even skills like cold snap that are very difficult to use on consoles. People asking for controller support have no idea what they're talking about.
People asking for controller support are not you. They have their own desires and needs. One of these may be an accessibility need and a lack of money to buy unavailable scalper-priced next-gen consoles and perhaps short on the ability to buy an old-gen one instead. Not to mention paying for multiplayer on top of that nonsense.
If a PC gamer requests controller support, it is not up to you or anyone else to complain about it[archive.is]. It doesn't affect you. Period.
Those of use who game on PC do so for a reason. We should not be the puppets of any corporation. The core ideal of PC is FREEDOM. Freedom of Operating System. Freedom of open-source code. Freedom of playing with whatever peripheral you want. Freedom to tinker and examine and learn. That is the freedom of PC. That is the very core ideal of PCMR.
And these people shold play a game with controller support or wait for POE 2 because this is not happening in PoE, been discussed a 1000 times over.
What about respecting devs artistic direction? What about the fact they said they don't want to implement gamepad support on PC? It is not something they promised and never made possible just something they said it would not happen.
It is up to you to respect this decision or not. This game was not designed with controller support in mind as the console version clearly shows and that's fine. Not all games need to have controller support and if using a controller is mandatory for you it is easy to look for the full controller support on the store page.
If I am not mistaken they said POE 2 will come with controller support, don't quote me on that I personally have little to no interest playing these jind of games with a controller.
