Capping elemental resistances

Hey guys,
In my 80+ hrs I've never been able to sit through story mode and make it to endgame. But during this league I've suddenly found a quite enjoyable Witch Necromancer build ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6GeLU-7tQk&t=1s ) and currently I'm lvl 64 in act 8.

Problem is - after defeating Kitava for the first time and getting his -ElemRes curse, I've been two-shotted during boss fights quite frequently. My current resistances are:

Fire Res: -1%
Cold Res 18%
Lightning Res -1%
Chaos Res 0%

While I know that these are awful, I simply don't see a good way to increase those, considering that I need two unset rings for this build (and thus can't use two-stone rings) and other build-specific gear (like those unique boots that give you +1 to summoned skeletons).
Currently I'm at loss and have a few questions:

1) Can unset rings and bone helmet be a good source of elemental resistances? How should I craft them? Should I craft them with elem res or go for smth else?

2) My build has at least 6 jewel sockets in skill tree. While 3 are occupied with Dead Reconing, is socketing + 10% to all res jewels into remaining ones a good idea?

3) Is using Goldrim at this level still viable? +40% to All Res surely is tempting

4) What are other good sources of elemental res? I'm planning my next equipment upgrade at lvl 68, so I'll be looking for a good 5L armor (can't afford a 6L). Any suggestions? My current helmet is Asenath's Mark which I plan to replace with Bone Helmet, and my gloves aren't build-specific either.

I would rather go for whatever ring I need than the rings which are recommend in the build when the question is between life and dead.

sure booth item bases can have good resistances. but I would rather advise to buy some cheap ones at poe.trade. keep in mind that bone helmet is a lvl 73 base

your goal at the end should be probably minion dmg jewels in there. but when the resistance jewels would help you currently and you already specced into the sockets, why not?

every piece of equipment which is not occupied by very important uniques is a good source of resistance

wow all your gear is crap

• you should upgrade your whole gear, especially the blue gloves
  
• enlighten lvl 1 is quite useless as link, because it dont do anything. enlighten lvl 2 is currently by 15-25c in BSC
  
• to your question above again, seeing your tree its not worth to go for the jewel sockets just for resis jewels
  
• keep in mind for your gearing session on lvl 68, that you will get hit by another -30% at the end of a10. you may wanna put this into the calculation too. not that you have after a10 again low resis.
  
• no more ideas currently

yeah, I'm fully aware of that, lol. But I'm not leveled enough for most stuff that I want - most stuff require lvl 68, hence the wait. It's the sudden spike in deaths that made me look into my gear - I currently have no problems with non-boss content.

Anyway, thanks for great advices!

My biggest problem is my own greed, lol. I know that end-game gear requires a lot of sacrifices for elem. resists, and I don't know whether I'll be ready to make it - there's way too much other great mods, lol.

To give you an idea how greedy I am - I still pick up scrolls of wisdom, lol.

Get better gloves, remove enlighten as it does nothing right now put it on your secondary weapon to lvl it up to lvl 3. take off that unset ring and put a two-stone (A good one) replace the other two stone. get a better amulet. and put on some res jewels. Also on your skill tree take off the hired killer 3 part line since you're never gonna benefit from it because you're never killing anything

does anyone use this in the first place for the tiny 20 life on kill? he probably use that for the %life

You shouldn't have gotten the items the build calls for until the end game, before that you just pick up random rare resist gear that has the socket colors you want as you go and buy goldrim for cheap to pick up the slack, and in your case sidhebreath for the minion bonuses. Also using a leveling skill would've made it a lot easier instead of using the skills the build calls for (for summoners, at lvl 24 you put raise zombies, melee splash, and minion speed (multstrike at lvl 38) in a 3l Matua Tupuna, with bones of ullr, using arc, curse on hit, vulnerabilty in a 3l weapon, haste aura, flesh offering, with minion speed gear to level very quickly)

Once you hit 68 you should cap your resistances by buying cheap rares so that you can start mapping (you wont be able to map with what you have now). The only items you should keep using are the staff, the chest, and the boots. Vendor your rares, stash the helm, and use poe.trade to buy resist/es/life (dex where you can) gear, and get sidhebreath for the amulet

That unset ring is one of the worst items ive ever seen, just put desecrate into you weapon swap and swap to it when you have no skeles and need corpses, replace it with a decent two stone ring.

Your two stone ring is even worse, basically a white ring (+6% ele resist is all its giving you, 11% rarity might seem good to you but its quantity that you want and dont bother with MF unless you get a lot of it, which you can't right now)

You want uncrafted uncorrupted items with bare minimum of 20% resist on each item for at least 2 resists and es/life (1alch-2c range), look for 30-40% for all 3 resists if its not too expensive (5c), then use the crafting stations to add whatever the item is missing (in your case youll probably need to craft dex onto a lot since you have nearly no dex in your tree and require so much of it)

It will cost a little bit more chaos then you want to spend but it will be worth it as you'll make it all back and more from maps or merc lab.

Start transitioning into the build specific items (5l chest/staff, 6l will still be too expensive, especially the chest) once you get to red maps and have a decent amount of currency to spend. The resists will work themselves out by that point as youll be able to afford good resist gear for the rares that you'll be using with the build specific uniques

The amulet is ok, too. You can craft another resistance 20-25 on it. But yeah you should vendor the other rares immediately. Here is an example search for better rings @ max 1 alch http://poe.trade/search/otetoonoomonak

Well thank you guys - after trading for a hour I managed to cap my res without sacrificing too much of the stuff I liked!

Your res still isnt capped, your resits are lowered even more in maps, so maybe you see it as capped now but that profile site shows map resists and its showing lightning resist at 45, which is pretty low

Fire and cold arent 75 either but they are good enough, all youd have to do is replace the helm with lightning resist and youd be good to go

I know you probably like the helm but its doing almost nothing for you, its only 7.3 mana regen per sec (your total mana regen is 57.7, so youd still be at 50 mana per sec with no helm), and 78dps for arc, which does almost no damage anyway since your dmg comes from minions and they dont benefit from the attack/cast speed that the helm grants to you, so the dps loss on arc doesnt matter

With the way it is now that helm is only granting 5% movespeed (really not worth it) and some ES which you could get from any decent helm that will come with a lot more, youd be better off with a rare ES helm that has lightning and fire resist (or lightning and a tiny bit of all resist), could even get minion damage on the helm for a good dmg increase

welp. on my defence page everything is 75% with Fire and Cold being 97% and 100% respectively. Strange.
I'm fully aware about another ElemRes debuff incoming, I'm planning to upgrade after it hits.
