Just as a real basic method - You typically link IC to a cast when damage taken gem. To generate charges you can self cast enduring cry or some gears will generate the charges , or some ascendancy nodes assist in auto generating endurance charges.
.4 seconds might not seem like much but it's enough to keep you from getting one shot from phys dmg.
lets say that my CWDT triggers when i take total of 1000 damage points and added to it immortal call (without any other buffs)
so if i get 1 hit of 2000 (phisical) when this gem will trigger?
a) i will get 2000 damage, gem triggers, protect me from phisical dam for next 0,4s
b) ill get 1000 damage, gem triggers preventing rest of the hit and the 0,4s afterwards
or something completly different?
It doesn't protect you from any of the hit that triggers it, but any physical damage after that hit while IC is active you're protected from.
Edit : So there may be times where you survive a one shot that deals more than 2000 damage and then there might be a whimpy attack that deals just enough damage to get your counter over 2000. Also since you mentioned physical damage : the counter doesn't actually differentiate what type of damage you took . So cast when damage taken can trigger immortal call with elemental or chaos damage as well.
1000 is just that amount of damage gem needs to trigger the immortal call effect, and its duration will prevent you from any phys damage taken, eaither it will be 50k or 1k.
Guess that's correct.
from the description the immortal call protect from phiyical damage
so if htere would be a phy hit that would one shot me the immortal call will not work and i will die anyway?
i'm wondering if there is a poin in having it signed to CWDT if i;m not generating any charges for longer upkeep
Eh, it's nice because any hit or hits will do zero physical damage if it happens in that .4 second.
Really comes in handy with packs of fast hitting creatures, because while IC is active, you also cannot be stunned by physical damage. (Because it's zero.)
Not sure if it still works, put CWDT, Enduring Cry, and then Immortal Call in an item. It makes the charges and then burns them.
A guide to the trigger order can be found on the wiki, explaining it better than I could here.

CWDT IC got changed a while ago. Now you need to link it to a Cry when Damage Taken Support.
