English, Japanese, or Chinese dub?
First time playing the series and would like to know which of these I should go with!

Chinese dub probably better but Japanese and English are way more easy to follow in battle

It's funny to see people choosing Chinese for authenticity because if you watch any videos or streams of Chinese players, they all play on Japanese dub
Japanese and chinese are very good, but I play in english so I don't have to read the subtitles during the battles

Some VAs are good, others are terrible

Chinese dub all the way, adds that poetic flair to it

both the English and Chinese dubs r awful

Imma stick with the Japanese original

Spoken like someone who never watched anything in Chinese.

They have the mannerisms and ♥♥♥♥ all done right. It's like watching an old school 3K TV show. Philosophy non-stop!

the english dub is great because everyone pronounces lu bu's name wrong and you can hear certain VA's like Huang Gai's pause and stutter on certain line reads.

Also Elias Toufexis (Adam Jensen VA) voices Yu Jin which makes Cao Cao's route much more pleasant to listen to.

Actually just play it for Elias and no one else, that's probably the only good thing about the english dub

I'll cast my vote for chinese dubs unless you really dislike reading. The english dubs have bad voice direction imo. I find origins much more accommodating in terms of dialogue. If you miss anything you can usually pause and read/replay lines, even during battle. I will occasionally pause during battle and catch up on the dialogue. The only time you can't is during pre-rendered cutscenes, but you can go back and rewatch any cutscene so you really can't miss anything.

i played in english, it was ok.

JP VA sounds is like every other JP products out there.
the game is already a Shannon style anime.
the JP voices and their way of speaking about their feelings & friendship is too much for me.

Chinese dub 100% for immersion. Tried japanese but ehh in my mind it sounds too much like the sengoku jidai than actual three kingdoms period.

JP dub all the way~
But I recommend Chinese if you know the language.

Chinese dub for me, as like Noodles said, it’s set in Ancient China and I love being able to add that layer of authenticity. I’m a language nut though, and love being able to hear the Chinese being spoken. The English dub isn’t as bad as it was in DW 9 but the pause halfway through a sentence drives me crazy, so that’s just another reason for me to choose Chinese, haha. I’d have gone with Japanese dub if Chinese wasn’t available though. So pretty much English dub as a last resort with media for me just in general :flamey_happy:

It's set in Ancient China, so I always use Chinese dubs when given the option.

I've heard that people choose English to not miss out on dialogue during fights, is that important?

there's a tab in the pause menu during battles called History where you can read/listen to any dialogue in the mission that has been said

The english subtitle localizations are quite different from the chinese dub lines fwiw. Like lots of lines are very different in English and CN.

Eg the CN dub will also frequently use Courtesy Name or Titles instead of Given Name
Eg CN will refer to specific locations by name while English will just use "nation"
