No it doesn't. In fact Outlast is very optimized. I have a good old Core2Duo E4600 + 9800GT + 4GB DDR2 and I can run the game with everything at Very High (but Shadows on Low), 1080p with more than 40 FPS.

As for this game, I managed to get the game running at an excellent quality just by jacking down the resolution. For some reason this game seems to reject my native resolution of 1600 x 900. Beyond that - "gaming debate" even says that my specs should be able to optimize this game, so when everything was saying that this should work, my concern that it was not is perfectly well gounded.

I appreciate the feed back, you did manage to abstain from the usual condescending tone I see so often on these forums. Ridiculous people.

You guys... wtf, how many years this has been going on... Video card manufacturers tier their Graphics lines (640,650,660,670,680, etc) as the price goes up, so does the throughput of the graphics accelerator. You cannot push max resolution + max quality settings in most games if your card cannot handle it. You will have to make consolations i.e. Lower Resolution(800x600) with med to high quality, or High Resolution (Native) + Low quality settings.

Mostly just forget about things like shadows, anti aliasing, ambient occlusion, as these are the most gpu dependent settings.

your 640m is a slower clocked version of the desktop 640 in that review. so again your card would be even slower than what is in that review. I guess in that deranged melon of yours, its all just a big conspiracy though.

got a good fps rate on high settings but suffering from some mad screen tearing v-sync on and off... kinda game breaking, even worse on very high :/
