Problems with Key mappings(SOLVED)
I just purchased the Directors Cut and for some reason non of the in game keymappings for any of the menues work. Tab key does not work, nor any of the other keys mapped to the Augments, maps, invetory etc function. Even when I change the key mappings to something other than the default mappings non of the menus work. Anyone have any ideas as to what the problem is? I know it is not my hardware, regular usb keyboard and Razer Nostromo because when I launch the regular Dues Ex Human Revolution every thing works correctly. I am glad that I bought the Directors Cut on the recent Steam sale.

UPDATE: Well I found out what the problem was, I was trying to set up my Razer Nostromo shortly after starting the game, so I could see the games options and default keymappings. After not being able to get some of it working I gave up and just started playing the game. It became obvious after a while what the problem was, certain options are not avaiable at the very begining of the game all of these options are for use with the enhancements that do not exist at the beginning and only are there after Jensen undergos the enhancment surgery. After this took place I then tried using it on my Nostromo and discovered that all of it then worked. I was just testing the set up of my Nostromo too soon, after playing for a while all of these mappings then worked. Someone using a regular keyboard would probably not even give them a second thought and would just hit the appropriate key when needed. However when setting up my Nostromo for a new game I like to test and verify that everything is working correctly. I have not noticed this in other games but in this one not everything is active at the beginning of the game.

"Even when I change the key mappings to something other than the default mappings non of the menus work."

What do you mean by this sentence?

Do you mean that you are unable to change the key mappings through the menu?
or
Do you mean that you are able to change the key mappings and this makes the menu non-functional?
or
Do you mean that once you've changed the key mappings through the menu, it has no effect and your keys don't work?

Are all of your in-game keys not working (WASD, mouse buttons, etc) or only some specific ones.
If you're able to re-map at all are you able to get any keys working? Does it seem to be the keys that are not working, or specific commands (i.e. No matter what key I bind crouch to, character won't crouch)?

What I experience is that none of the default key mappings for the ingame menus function, when pressed for the various menus nothing happens. The following Menus do not function, Mission Logs "U", Invetory "I", Augmentation "Q", Map "P", Media Logs "[", Tab Key for ingame menus doesnt even work. For example when I hit the I key for invetory the invetory screen never launches the same goes for all the rest of the default key mappings. After this I thought that perhaps if I selected a different key mapping for the various menus they might work so I changed the mappings in the Options section under Keyboard settings. Unfortunately this does not work either. What has me stumpted is it seems the only keymappings that are not working are for the ingame menus, everything else works correctly. Thinking that perhaps something was wrong with my keyboard and my Nostromo so I exited out of the game, I then launced the regular Dues EX game (the non Directors cut version I also own) and everything works correctly in that version. I have checked the file cash for corruption and everything comes back saying that it is ok. The only other Idea I have at this point is to uninstall the game and redownload the game files and see if that might fix the issue.

I can confirm Robert's problems. Neither Tab key nor the Enter key work in my version of the game. While the Enter key is not used in the default mapping, the Tab key is and also cannot be remapped which makes playing a pain. Is this a known bug? Is there a workaround? I hadn't had these problems in the original version of DX:HR.

The same goes for me. Has anybody found out why? Are these options not available at the start? Manual says nada. This is so fustrating...

Just started playing. Movement keys work, the rest do not, including the in-game menu (TAB key.) Seems to be an ongoing issue with, as far as I can tell, no fix?

Hi all, it has been a while since I played Dues Ex, however I remember that when you begin the game a lot of the key mappings do not function. I discovered this because I like to map a new game with my Nostromo keypad and gaming mouse and I like to test them out to make sure all is well. What I discovered about this game is that the keys that do not work when you begin the game will begin to function correctly when you progress far enough into the game where they are actually needed. At the begining of the game they are not needed so are not active. Play a little farther into the game, I wish I could remember what stage of the game I was in when they all started working. I think it was after the initial series of events when the bad guys invade the labs at the begnining , this was the area where all of the keys did not work, and then you go on your fisrt mission in response to these events and then all of the key mappings work because they are not needed at the begining. If I remember correctly the keys that do not work all have to do with the enhansments that you get but do not have at the very begininng of the game. This is why I marked my question as being Solved because there was nothing that needed fixing.

I am experiencing exactly the same thing. I was about to ask for a refund when I discovered this thread. Now I'll wait on the refund request until I play far enough to need the problem keys. Thanks for the input.
