The gold/yellow hue. Was it removed or toned down?
Just curious which it is and how drastic the change is from the original. Does it still retain some of that Renaissance vibe?

Its noticeable. Check out the link below for comparison shots. I THINK I remember reading that they changed some filters and tweeked the color pallete to make it look less yellow. To be honest, I'm not entirely convinced anymore that this was purposeful to remove the golden filter, and may be largely the result of broken post-processing in the Director's Cut.

No, It was indeed removed. There was already a thread on this.

I think it was originally toned down in Missing Link but now in the Director's Cut it has been totally removed.

Here is another comparison between the original and the Director's Cut. It was made 8 months ago, but I'm pretty sure that the game looks almost the same now. There was only one update in November, right?

http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/46250/ - first two pairs of screenshots show us how the post processing works in the original DXHR.
http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/46252/ - and these screenshots show us how it does not work in the Director's Cut.

It wasn't removed, it's just broken. And probably will never be fixed.
I am practically avoiding the game because of the absence of that golden filter , remember it so fondly from the original , heck even the fall managed to keep it

Pretty sure it wasn't even on purpose they removed it, they probably just fk'd the post-processing

The Wii U doesn't support post processing filters, so they left it out. The 2013 version is a console port. The 2011 release is a PC game.

Several people have said you get both in your library. However, now that they have removed DXHR from Steam, who knows? I would ask their support department directly.

Where did you hear/read this?

Which part?

As to having both in your library: people here on the forums in other threads

As to the base game being removed from the store: go look, it's gone

Don't know what else you might be asking me to clarify.

I've never heard you get both versions of the game with a purchase of the DC. I read these forums regularly and this is literally the first I've heard of it. So do please post links to said forum threads.

Edit: Sorry, re-reading what you were replying to, I understand you were talking about it not over-writing the old vanilla DX-HR. Disregard...

Once the original was taken down from the store, it's no longer possible to get the original version at all, However if you owned it prior to the DC "upgrade" the old game + dlc do stay in your library as seperate entries. They were not removed at all, and will never be removed unless you specifically request it to be, which would be a bit silly to ask.

The original can still be obtained from GreenManGaming and perhaps other non-Steam sites, albeit at a higher cost unless its on sale.

Yes, forgot to mention that, any outsider that still sells the original will of course still be the original. And any steam keys purchased will still be the original on steam unless the store page specifically says "Director's cut"
