I find it very upsetting to see an engineer like Pritchard dressing so unprofessionally. In the future, did professional presence go out the window? This man is wearing cargo pants with his belt below his buttcrack. What a disgrace. No wonder Jensen hates him.

But that's the point. Pritchard's a different kind of software engineer than what we think of when we hear that word. His position is basically the head of Sarif's IT, and that's a strictly behind-the-scenes capacity. The odds that he's ever going to appear in front of the media or to the public are incredibly low. If he ever DOES appear front of a press conference, it means that something bad has happened, which means that he hasn't been doing his job.

Even if he is never in front of media or press, he should still be responsible for his professionalism and appearance. he is a representation of the company at the very least. Other employees could see him and lose respect for the dress code. Its not like he needs a business suit, just business casual. Put some real pants on and use your belt like a belt. He is dressing like he does not have to abide by the rules and I am surprised that David Sariff puts up with it. I have less respect for Sariff now for treating this man like he can ignore the standard. It is not like he is even walking on the line of decency either. He intentionally overshot that line and is in the realm of disrespectful.

If Pritchard was an office worker, than you would have a point. But Pritchard's not an office worker; he's the head of the IT department, and that's strictly behind-the-scenes stuff. You're not SUPPOSED to see them unless something's wrong, and if any representative of Sarif Industries ended up appearing in front of the media, it would be David Sarif. The IT department's whole job is to oversee the cyber-security of the company, and to make sure all the computer equipment works correctly. Considering what Sarif Industries does, that's much more important than physical appearance. Sarif hired Pritchard because of his skills, knowledge, and determination, not because of the way Pritchard dresses.

They are a part of the dress code as well.

But why does it matter how he dresses? Pritchard's position as head of cyber-security for Sarif Industries means that he's constantly working behind the scenes to stop cyber-attacks before they happen and to help Jensen with HIS responsibilities. The only people at Sarif Industries who see him regularly, apart from the people who work under him, are Jensen and Sarif. What matters is that he can do his job, not how he dresses. His wiki entry mentions that the only intra-office complaints about him are due to the way he treats co-workers, nothing else.

IDK,the same reason it matters how every professional person dresses. It is a sign of respect and professionalism to abide by the dress code. He is a part of the dress code but chooses to ignore it. That is unprofessional and disrespectful.

Okay, I understand that, but have you considered that different sections of Sarif Industries might have their own dress codes? For all we know, the way Pritchard dresses might just be the standard for Sarif Industries cyber-security personnel. Besides, IMO, if I worked at Sarif Industries, I would find it reassuring if the head of cyber-security wore something different than everyone else. That way, if I need their help, I would be able to identify them immediately when they showed up to help me, rather than waste everybody's time due to a mistaken identity.

Man, people sure are invested in the dresscode of a virtual world.

Uhh he is a quite clearly a trope character, the guy who is so good at his job that Sariff looks the other way for the numerous infractions he does.. From his demeanor, clothing, to the fact he is working on a motor cycle in his office.
This is not far off from reality in which companies will look the other way about certain behavior when the person is so damn good at their job..
