5 Jacks discard not unlocked?

I got lucky and had 5 jacks in my hand, but not lucky enough to win the round, knew I was going to lose so I discarded them, figured if I was out I might as well unlock a joker. But after the round was over, there was no message that said joker unlocked! Strange because the same happened for the "have 30 hearts in your deck " joker, but THAT one unlocked itself when I started a new round.. any ideas why it won't unlock?

Probably the same as every other time things wont unlock for people, you're either in a challenge or a seeded run.

Dang! I spent so much time trying to unlock stuff through challenges. Figures I should have consulted online sources first.

it is rather annoying that it doesn't tell you that challenges don't do unlocks, same as seeded runs. you shouldn't have to look outside of the game for info like that.

Entering a seed will warn you that Unlocks and Achievements are disabled, at least.
