If you're a real gamer, you know how to soak in a game, you read the text and do the challenges then I can't say yet. I'm at about 8 hours and haven't finished my first run yet. The final boss has been brought up in the story but I have at least one more boss before that, I feel.
That's all with the caveat that I did not use every skill in every slot, meaning there were a few paragraphs I did miss, that I took care of about 30 minutes into Recursion mode, which is basically New Game+. There are still levels to gain and tests to do that you can only unlock at higher levels, which means New Game+ is required for 100%. I just beat it all and I'm at 10 hours.
So I will tell people it's about a 5-hour game, but I'm getting more than double that in playthrough that I couldn't help but start right after I finished the first.
Note if you're taking longer, you're just going at a slower pace. That doesn't mean that you're seeing more than someone who did it in five, you're just taking longer at your battles, maybe spending more time in Backdoor, etc etc.
I agree with this fella. Look, if you're eager to brag about how you pwn games and whatnot, sure, you can finish it in 4-6 hours. If you care about experiencing the game wholly though it may take you quite longer.
By this I mean exploring the stages to find little details, take your time to read (and develop) the abilities files(you'll get it once you play it), read the station messages, do the tests as soon as you get them, apply limiters as soon as you get them to up the challenge, fiddle with combinations of abilities etc
Basically if you're one of those people who takes pride in how fast you finish games, chances are you'll finish it on the mentioned average, if you're the sort who enjoys to see the effort put forth by developers on every single detail and take your time to enjoy the game and see everything there is to see it'll last you 3 or more times that time.
I highly recommend not rushing and enabling 10 limiters permanently as soon as possible, they make the game *really* interesting. Unlike Bastion with its random invincible enemies and other BS, the limiters in Transistor simply make the fights more complex and much more engaging without relying on cheap randomness.
Glad you enjoyed it.

6-12½h from Main story to Completionist.
The numbers will be more reliable with more submissions ofc.
The game is not a long game tho it is a pretty game and the combat is fun.
