I don't see where on the storepage it tells you what types of attacks enemies use, or the names of all the Storyline NPCs either.. You built a colony on a hostile planet. Attacks against your colony should be assumed...
It is not difficult to defend your colony though. Equip your followers with equipment, and place down automated turrets. Attackers will die, you won't have to fight, and you'll get free resources. Win/win/win.
I dont mind the normal attacks, but this 30-man attack and no time limit on it?!?!? come on!! that's Overkill!
Automated base turrets do not use ammo or power. They can fire infinately, and kill attackers very rapidly. I also think that maybe you might find some enjoyment equipping your followers, but that may just be a personal enjoyment of mine - recruiting, training and equipping to defend the colony.
Place some base turrets, and the difficulty will disappear.
the problem right now is my saved game is STUCK in a tower defense with NO TIME LIMIT to stop it. I have to kill the remaming 23 attackers and everytime I res Im killed before I can get a shot off.
I don't think it says on the store page either: "You cannot lose! Guaranteed to win no matter what!"
And there is an issue that mobs are spawning inside your base
Of you meant the time counter is buggedand there is no timeout measurement ( remaining time ) i think you have to wait for all mobs spawns then save and quit , reload ( save in new slot in case this will ruin your colony wothout solving the issue )
That it does. WAY too often.
Not certain what these automated turrets are, that you mention. The level 1 placeable auto fire guns require bullets. 200 max when fully loaded. When the run out they just sit there until you reload them. And instead of killing enemies "easily" I have seen them run dry and miss 90% of their shots.
Level two uses rockets. Same max 200 and reload requirement.
Now these are the base defense weapons I remember from EA. I have a couple of items that don't seem to have any use - I tried placing them, without any luck.
I thought they were a vehicle weapons system and needed to be placed on a vehicle, but since my world is really lacking in core resources - Adventure mode - and certain schematics, like the base replicator, my only base defense weapons are woefully inadequate - use a lot of resources, 800 bullets and 800 rockets to fully load them all from empty to very little effect.
The massive npc spy ship (recon quest) only went down, after I manged to jet pack up on top of it and used over 200 arrows and a gold bow. (I had already died repeatedly, both followers were dead and I had no more revival shots - having used 10 or 11 in that combat, alread.)
A couple of days later an invasion of colonist types managed to completely destroy my base assembler, by teleporting into the middle of my colony, while my 8 automated guns, 13 colonists and two followers, well, I am not certain exactly what they actually did.
I do know that at one time, I died as I was targeted by 4-5 of the enemy, while I stood in the middle of an equal number of my "colonists", and between two turrets. And no damage was done to any other building / facility in my colony.
So I do have to agree with the OP - large number of unstoppable ninja warriors, who can ignore multiple automated guns and NPC defenders to specifically attack what is / should be the most heavily guarded (but critical) component of my colony, or my person - does seem to be just a bit of an issue.
The base turrets require no ammo, but DO require a 4x4 block to place them on. I think they also require a factory replicator to build. If I didn't have the factory rep script, I wouldn't start a colony as it's one of the essential items for the colony.
But the lack of a factory replicator is a real pain. But I already posted that as a real bug / issue. Follow the quest lines and get a training facility but never get critical scripts? Very frustrating.
edit: finding a lot of things like that, took forever to finally get a recipe to make flour from wheat, still can't cook rice, I have this great replicator that takes raw materials and makes weapons and armor, but I can't cook meat unless I make a torch? (campfire is useless decoration) . . . tons of "food like resources" from native environment but few are actually used - no rhyme nor reason to much of it.
I think the colony defense mechanics are fine. They are easy enough to deal with that a few simple defenses allow you to ignore them, but difficult enough that you actually do have to put some thought into defense. And it's just really satisfying to hear/watch your turrets and colonists fighting and taking care of things while you continue crafting/building.
