One more horrendous reason to not play with the English dub. He's even got that signature Californian "huff" at the end of every sentence when he's trying to sound edgy.

What was the reasoning on this? "Hiring a white guy to portray a Japanese man again would be racist, so instead we'll hire a Korean because... uh, those people are all basically the same I guess?"

Sega has one franchise that's not perennially on fire and this is the treatment it gets.

Plenty of English dubs better than Japanese. Hellsing, for instance.

If you have to go back to Hellsing and Black Lagoon for exceptions, literally decades ago and before the current Union clique captured the whole industry, then your exceptions are just proving the rule.

I really love how Yong Yea is blocking everyone on twitter that isn't 100% kissing his ass. Saw a guy getting blocked simply for saying even though he doesn't personally like the casting its no reason to cancel Yong Yea over it. The irony here is even as a Youtuber Yong Yea is sub par, they should have just stuck with the original VA...

I don't have mad love for the guy nor do I like what he's done with his channel but I know a guy has to eat even if it means selling his soul to the devil. But somewhere in the back of my mind, I knew dude would sound like ♥♥♥♥ when he tried yelling. Some people just sound ridiculous when they yell; and yes, he is definitely one of those people.

Again though, if the other clips you show me have any indication of what SEGA has done to improve his vocal range, I feel at least comfortable about playing IW with English audio.

Anyway, thanks for going through all the trouble looking that stuff up.

Anytime, mate! And hey, we can at least agree that Yong is objectively terrible at doing live performances and trying to sound tough, lol.

Funnily enough, he's already been in this series as the dub voices for Tashiro and Tesso in the Judgment duology, along with Mitsuo in Yakuza 7. But unlike Yong, not only does he have the ability to alter his voice for each of those characters, but he was also smart enough to not be credited by his username in all three of those games, and instead went by his real one; SungWon Cho.

It's like the Aliens Isolation DLC all over again, but in reverse. With Alien Isolation, sure they got the original movie cast, but they were way too old. So there was a horrible dissonance between how old the characters looked, and their voices.

In this case, it's almost like he's way too young for the role. Combine this with the fact that, despite technically being a VA, it sounds far too much like his normal speaking voice. The combination is just far too distracting.

Well, that's cos Yong *is* way too young for the role, as according to Google, he was born on 27/03/1995, making the lad 28 as of writing. And then there's his predecessor, who's not only the right age, 57, but fun fact: Darryl is precisely 7 months younger than Takaya, so they'll both be the same age next week haha.
