Denuvo increases sales whether you small knowledge of the computer security agree or not
Blame is on square enix though (IMO)

Disconnect would be a minor issue if they can improve the servers stability. What worries me the most is what would happen in a few years when the servers are no longer maintained or simply shut down. We would be left with a barebone game with almost nothing to do.
BTW I've read that some of these denuvo games have been cracked, ROTTR for example. And even if it's just a rumor, these games WILL be cracked one day. Denuvo is not meant to prevent pirates from EVER cracking the game, merely to delay the process long enough so some impatient ppl may buy the game instead. But you shoud provide ACTUAL PROOF showing an increase in sales before insulting anyone.
You are right, I usually download games and then buy them if I like them. I wanted to download Just cause 3 but because it has stupid denuvo i will just simply not play it and will not buy it.
There's the Denuvo crap, which has a bad reputation but hasn't really been the cause of any serious problems, acting as their anti-tamper rights management mechanism.
Then there's the requirement for being always connected to the servers while playing a singleplayer game and not being able to see your unlocks for said singleplayer game without being connected. As far as I know, Denuvo doesn't require you to be always online? This is a separate issue, a design decision, and a bad one at that. Transparently included by square enix to try and reduce piracy by making the "richest" experience be one that's connected to their servers. One can only hope that the continuing backlash will make them relax or remove this annoying as hell setup.
Regarding the encryption that Denuvo seems to implement (not sure this is the same thing as the always-online requirement TBH), it has a pernicious side-effect: modders can't hack the executable for modding purposes, like the wonderful Script Extender team for Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim and Fallout 3 did, allowing most of the best mods to exist. It's not only technically hard to break the encryption, but highly illegal at least in the USA.
It's sad to see a company trust nebulous analyses about theoretical "lost sales" instead of actual feedback from their dedicated customers.
