The older games do have some really wonderful themes (Contracts is my fave and actually won the BAFTA award) but they're up to 6 minutes long some of them. With how reactive the music is now I don't think they could really do such long, highly orchestrated themes. Not unless the player for some reason chooses to just stand on the spot for minutes on end.
My hope for future levels is that they swtich it up a bit depending on the location, so you'd have more of an Italian feel in Sapienza and African vibes in Marrakesh. What they've got now I think fits very well with a fashion show atmosphere, being fairly high tech / electronic sounding, and it could work in other places perhaps like the US, but if we're visiting locations as diverse as the ones listed I think it'd be worth changing up the score to give them more local flavour.
Thanks, great response I totally agree with you that if they change the music by the location it will work fine, and you are right about the dynamic nature of the music

This is exactly what I mean. That dark oprea like with chanting in the back made me feel like I was doing something wrong, for some reason that REALLY made me feel like I was agent 47, it really immersed me
yes they need to bring this one back for sure.
Tho i do miss Jesper Kyd, alot.
But as far as not having Jesper Kyd goes, they did very well.
One wonders if it's a cost-saving measure going with a completely synthesized soundtrack instead of hiring out the Budapest Symphony Orchestra and a whole choir...
Hong Kong Underground and Vegas... oh yes, two of the best game tracks composed of all time, nuff said!
And yup, just slide the game music volume slider to 0 in settings and make a playlist of your Jesper Kyd collection if you haven't already. I like listening to different music while gaming anyway. Don't get me wrong, I like the music in this. I think I would buy the official soundtrack, it's ok so far? Let's see how the season goes... I expect we'll get to buy the complete soundtrack in December or whatever (Civil Wars / WWIII notwithstanding).
BTW I'm not sure if we ever had an update on the reason(s) why J.K. wasn't hired after Blood Money but in a 2014 interview (Re: Absolution) he said:

Paul Weedon:
Are you able to shed some light on why you weren’t involved with Hitman: Absolution, the latest game in the franchise? Your work was greatly missed.
Jesper Kyd:
I wasn't asked by IO. No idea why.
Same story with David Bateson wasn't it? In an early interview he said the same thing, IO didn't call him and he was left baffled and "gutted". Of course, there was a huge outcry from the fans and IO relented to the pressure to get him reinstated. No idea why Mr Kyd wasn't asked. Money?
Anyway, at least we can still play "HitmanTM" while listening to some songs sung in Latin :D

Thanks for the response dude!
It's obvious Mr.Kyd wasn't asked because they want to reserve their budget. A composer with kyd's calibre will be very expensive to hire, not to mention they have to pay his orchestra too.
Bateson was hired because he is far cheaper than a composer and an orchestra.
And IO have to choose which one of them have more impact to sales than the other.
The music of the MASTERMIND Jesper Kyd in the old games was so EPIC, musical accompaniment was actually like in some movie, the soundtracks of Hitman 1-4 are ones of the best ever, listen to them very often on my media player.
