"No airbrake" is taking the absolute piss. We've told you how it works, and you wankers refuse to implement it.

"plus only having ARH missiles, the Rafale is best used to fire missiles at long ranges, avoid getting into short range engagements if possible." Maybe if you un nerf the mica's range then maybe this might be true :steamsad:

Wooo The best fighter planes in the world are arriving !

The genius of French engineers :
The Rafale no longer needs an Airbrake because it creates the same effect by completely tilting its internal wingtip control surfaces (called Elevons) + tilting in the opposite direction to the canard planes.
This completely slows the plane without the need for a system that weighs the plane down.

Its only real weakness lies in its engine power of only 7.5 tons. A purely political choice on the part of the French administration which considers that more powerful engines are unnecessary and too expensive.
And yet... The Snecma company, which creates the engines for the Mirage and Rafale, has engines with +9 tons of thrust already operational since 1987. And since the entry into service of the Rafale in 2004, pilots have been demanding an upgrade of which is the base, the direct heir of the Super Mirage 4000 thought to have originally had engines of +9 tons.
This is one of the reasons why the Rafale A (the demonstrator) was originally much larger than the production models which would come later such as the Rafale C, M and B.

And we are not even talking about the SPECTRA's active radar jamming capabilities, or the optronics. (capable of spoting an aircraft at a maximum range of 100km for the IR one and 50km for the regular optic one (yeas it means stealth aircraft too kyle).

But i agree with gaijin on these ones : a lore accurate rafale would have as sole adversary a F22 raptor.

How in dev server the rafale have more trust vs eurofighter with weaker engine?

eu2000

Maximum thrust: 60 kN (13,500 lbf) and 90 kN (20,200 lbf) (with reheat)
Overall pressure ratio: 26:1
Bypass ratio: 0.4:1
Air mass flow: 75–77 kg/s (9,900–10,200 lb/min)
rafale

Maximum thrust: 50 kN (11,200 lbf) and 75 kN (16,900 lbf) (with afterburner)
Overall pressure ratio: 24.5:1
Bypass ratio: 0.3:1
Air mass flow: 65 kg/s (143 lb/s)
so what is this? really interesting…

it's the f3 or f3 R ?
Kioki Dec 12, 2024 @ 9:41am
It has no airbrake because it uses the Canards as it's airbrake
Roman Dec 12, 2024 @ 10:08am
Absence of air brake is good, but does it fly reversely too?

Because french tech should...
