And it's one thing to see that on their own, official forums, but a bit disturbing that it is openly their policy on Steam's forums--Valve is an American company, not Chinese or Russian, so I'm extremely disappointed that they are cool with that. Disappointed, but not too surprised; not only would it be easier to let game companies run wild on the forums, in this case it probably helps their bottom line.
(I do look forward to the Israeli tree, I'll probably preemptively grind the aircraft tree before we get the ground tree, which I don't see why it wouldn't happen. Whether I get one of the planes for grinding/early access REALLY depends on whether it fits in the budget really, money's low and self employed work is fun until it dies die rapidly).
IDK about Ground, but at least in Air RB it is maddening to be in a turnfighter twiddling your thumbs late match because the last enemy is hiding by the airfield and you can't even effectively target the remaining AIs in the middle of the map. All your buddies are shooting down the soft targets before you get to them and the tanks and pillboxes love to shrug off low-caliber rounds, and going back to base to pick up something like 2 x 50kg bombs is just sad.
I thought all nations flags were behind a paywall.
They were free at one point, they were put behind a paywall because the playerbase started grossly misusing the flags in conjunction with other decals to express hatred and discontent.
While I wont speak on behalf of the developers, I think the short answer is "No" simply because there are many things going on right now (Real world & WT) that would cause users to be tempted to misuse the decals in similar ways that caused the decals to be removed in the first place.
