extreme lag in gun sight occasionally
was just playing abandoned factory, and about halfway through the match, i started getting insane framerate drops (from steady 120fps to about 5-10fps), but ONLY when in the gun sight and zoomed in. how does this even happen? does anyone have a clue why this happens?

seems to happen at random, too. sometimes i'll go half a dozen matches before the sight-lag, other times itll be the first match with sight-lag. sometimes it's only when zooming in the sight, other times it's just when in the gun sight/commander's sight at all. A+.

Funny. I have the same from time to time but with planes. All goes fine, stable FPS and bla and then when in dogfight range, boom micro lags

hey , i had the same issue and when i looked into it, the fix for me was in graphic settings turn ground displacement all the way off, I dunno why but this fixed the issue for me, hope it helps ya!

I meant terrian displacement quality my bad

did thata while ago, but the issue seems to have come back... how tf, gaijin?
Samen problem here . Got an 12gen i5 and a 4080 super . I play it @4k with around 120 fps . SOMETIMES after every Match the frames constand drops Till around to finaly 30 fps . In zoom i get only 5 fps . Unplayable . I switched back to dx 11 . And yes i have newest driver ubdated And so on . I know ist beta but its getting worst after every ubdate .
As has been previously mentioned many times. Whilst from time to time there can be issues with specific situations, maps etc. The vast majority of times, when we investigate these issues it comes down to the connection. War Thunder is an MMO. It also not like other 'health bar' MMO's. In WT the angles, velocity, penetration capacity, armour resistance, type of armour, shell used, control of ATGM's, movement of vehicles etc are all modelled in 'real time'. This results in much larger data transfers back and forth between the client and the game servers than many other games.

Whilst this issue certainly exists for some. It is NOT universal. We are all running the same code and game. So claims that it is the 'game at fault' are often over stated, with no actual evidence to support these conclusions. With what I have stated in mind, however we DO investigate all reported instances of this issue. Very often, we cannot replicate the issue. I would point out as well, that about 65% of the time we cannot replicate issues presented in reports!
When we investigate we ask for certain things to be carried out so we have extensive information on the connection and game performance etc.

Can you please stop any other external applications that use bandwidth. ie: social media, streaming platforms like YouTube, Discord or similar. Have only War Thunder running. Try to use a cable connection to your machine and not a wi-fi connection. Wi-fi connections are shared by all in the household/unit complex etc. There is only so much bandwidth and that bandwidth is 'sliced' into bits for each user. Do not use a VPN connection.

Can you please first try the options below and see if these fix the issue.

Please update Windows as indicated by both AMD and NVIDIA FIRST. As indicated at their sites - then:
Please read the Knowledge Base on making a report.
https://wiki.warthunder.com/tag/knowledgebase
Please clear the cache, verify the files and remove all custom content.

If this does not correct the issue, please do the following.

Can you please remove the current graphics driver(s) using DDU (or similar). https://www.wagnardsoft.com/

Please ensure that you follow the instructions and use Safe Mode.

Then re-install/install the latest driver(s) and re-test.

In order to investigate issues thoroughly we need ALL the files asked for. We need the game version, relevant screenshots(Taken using the in game screenshot function and please do not change the filenames. Please take screenshot at the time the event occurs) Replay's(both client and server - if available), clog, and Dxdiag.

If you are experiencing FPS drops or other performance problems, it is necessary to create a performance log.

To create such a log you will need to start the game, enter a battle and press left ALT+F11 to enable, or disable the log recording. At the moment of performance drop you will need to mark the time in the log by a single press of the F11 button.
After that in the folder with logs “Folder with game.game_logs\” will appear a file with the extension .dap, which should be attached to the report. Please run the Profiler tool - (Alt+F11), spikes are created in the spikes-date_time.dap; pressing F11 creates - ring-datetime.dap

Video's can be useful, but they DO NOT negate the need for the replay files. Can you please mount video's on a streaming site. Most of the Technical Moderation team are volunteers. If we were to download every video, in each report, most of us would exceed our monthly ISP download levels and either end up losing, or paying extra for our connections. Whilst one small video is fine. Multiple large videos could quickly become an issue given the number of reports that we handle. Your consideration with this issue is appreciated.

Can you then please report it here > Technical Forum https://community.gaijin.net/issues/p/warthunder Select your Operating system etc. Or you can report it from the game under the Community tab in the hangar.

Thanks

1. It's FRAMERATE lag. NOT connection lag. Read my original post to confirm this. Connection lag would not cause actual framerate drops, which is what I'm experiencing.

2. I am completely up-to-date, on drivers and OS. This is not the issue.

3. I have already multiple times verified game cache, force-reinstalled everything (deleted all game files then verified to re-download), etc. This is not the issue.

4. I have already attempted to remove and reinstall my graphics drivers via DDU. Still no solution. This is not the issue.

5. Who mentioned health-bars? shell issues? We're talking about a sudden FPS drop, nothing to do with shell issues or whatever.

6. Next time I get a laggy-zoom match, I will create a performance log. I see no need for a video, but if I am able, I will record one during the laggy-zoom.
Gonna need KnightoftheAbyss to explain why the connection pipeline would affect fps. Downloading shaders? Yea maybe but 99% of the time all the shaders the server wants me to download are done at the start of the match, but with the data spooling around a match? When has a packet loss caused FPS to drop in a game??? Rubberbanding does not even affect FPS unless your computer is somehow bad enough that the lack of a data stream causes it to lose performance. Let me emphasize that these same issues happen within any scene -- hangar and test drives not excluded -- so it is 100000000000% not a connection issue.
