Apparently Windows made an update and now Firewall is falsely flagging some games as trojan virus, Warthunder included. You could put entire folder into windows defender exclusion list, that should work in theory. But I dont recommend it. Best thing to do is wait for Gaijin and Microsoft to fix it on their part.

You are telling people to update their Windows... when Windows update is the sole reason of this happening xD I [/quote]

If they are using Win 11 that is a possibility. But if they are using Win 10, 8, Linux, Mac etc then they should not be impacted by the Win 11 issue. If they have this issue on an OS that is not Win 11, then the Dev's would need to know about it. :) It would also need to be investigated and determined if in fact the Win 11 issue was the cause. Otherwise it is just idle speculation. :)

If it is a firewall issue then it is an issue with your AV software. Not Gaijin's. My AV software has absolutely no issue with War Thunder as all. I just had a Windows update for my Win 10 and I am running the game with no issues.

False positives on some 'free' AV software is well known. They often use the mechanic to convince ppl to buy the version of their software that costs money! Thus is is nothing more (often) than a cheap marketing stunt. I would encourage ppl to buy the best AV software that they can afford.

You should be able to add War Thunder to your Exception or Trusted list to avoid this though.

I have no AV software and have been suffering from this since the update about a week ago.

I do have windows 11.
It is now march and i have
1. updated drivers
2. verified files
3. uninstalled/reinstalled
4.fixed the anti cheat
5.cleared my cache
Note that after i do all of this i can get into exactly 2 matches and I've done this process twice now.

Update: I managed to make the game run twice after clearing cache and re-verifying files, it even started as my steam account without opening launcher and asking me to "sign in" However strange thing was.. after closing the game (it even closed properly), I was unable to replicate it. Game once again didnt start, was non responsive and refusing to shut down at the same time.

I started the game again and this time it started right up.

Closing the "crashpad handler" helped on my system as well! thx!!

Ok apparently I fixed it by just having my nvidia driver updated, now I'm not sure if this is the solution but it appears to be working normally. Might check back in a bit to see if the issue still shows up.

UPDATE: even after updating your drivers, the issue still comes back. The only way I was able to get the game to actually launch is by closing "crashpad_handle" from the Task Manager. It's annoying to do this every single time you launch the game from steam but yeah its either do this or use the actual manual launcher but at the cost of not saving your playtime through steam.

If the game doesn´t load, you can try to stop the process "crashpad_handler" via task manager. The game can then continue normally. Might be a steam problem, since it is located in this folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\War Thunder\win64
