Ray Tracing on a 1000 series GPU?
I'm using a GTX 1070 ti and for some reason I can use RTX. I use it maxed out, but honestly, my FPS and I believe my graphics are the same. Does it not work properly with older GPUs or does it only work in specific areas? (inside buildings, near buildings with reflections etc)

RTX 2060. RTX max'd drops about 100 fps. I don't think it's actually working on your GPU.

your GPU doesn't support ray tracing, you need a 2000 series RTX or later

The GTX Series supports basic raytracing. However, different games use ray tracing in different ways. More complex modes are not supported. Some games even disable ray tracing for GTX cards due to their expected low performance.
I guess you need at least a RTX 2000 series gpu to enjoy ray tracing in War Thunder as already mentioned.

I noticed a major FPS drop last night when I was near smokes and lots of fires, my FPS dropped from 80 to 20-30 but I'm not sure if that was even ray tracing or not.
From what I know, GTX cards ( at least in some games) support ray traced reflections, but not actual shadows , AO or water effects.

I'm not sure why they even allowed 1000 series GPUs to have the option enabled when it doesn't work, they should just disable it completely. I guess they may keep it if 1000 series supports ray traced reflections and stuff like that.

Fair enough. I'll just disable it for now and hope that I can get an RTX GPU in the future.
