would like to know if anything can be done about lag.
About 20% of the time I have to reset game. More noticeable in plane than tank. I have older system but well above min. I don't see others complaining about lag. I have i5, 8gb ram, Storage is either ssd or hdd and I find them running the same. Suggested graph is min but I have ran them up to medium with same results. Ty for your time in advance.

RAM can be a problem, 16gb is enough to run games though (you only need more for rendering, heavy processing or CNC applications), but 8gb is enough to run War Thunder without problems.

You said it's a laptop, does it have a separat GPU or is it integrated with the CPU?
ram can't be upgraded any longer 8gb max

just played another match FPS dropped to 16 and became unplayable. So I guess this problem will persist. Unless other suggestions come forward I will continue to try FPS solutions. This laptop is about as old as WT. It has been upgraded as far as can go. win 10 i5-3230, 8gb ram, 120gb SSD.

Your labtop is likely at or near end of life. Might be time to get a new (preferably) desktop pc.

Intel HD graphics 4000 <-- this thing is poopoo

its not way above min requirements. a gtx660/r3 370/r7 265 is actually way stronger than an ancient laptop igpu.

theres nothing we can do to help, just lower every graphical setting possible and lower the resolution.

Maybe a memory leak? Basically your RAM fills up without removing the old stuff causing it lag or crash. Run task manager in the background while playing multiple games.

These videos both demonstrate my machine should run this program fine. Keep in mind for the most part that it does probably 80%. If it would lag out I would reset or take a break and come back. My system runs more like the top one, between 20-40 fps and if it doesn't drop below 20 I am okay. Frustrating but I only saw it as an issue when repair cost became high.

I have been looking at task manager. Mostly windows.

Even I ran the game on medium sometimes without issue.

You either run the game on ultra low quality mode, or get a new computer.

I am running it on min. About 1 in 5 matches will have the lag.

This is just not true. You are running a 12 year old integrated graphics device.

Your best bet is to run 720p at minimum settings

The only setting left to change is to change the client from full client 54.1gb to minimum 19.4gb. Doesnt seem like the 19gb client is working. It deleted half the game and is now stuck checking for updates like 10 minutes now.. Anyone can confirm the 19gb setting doesnt' work?? TY

These videos are 7 years old! The graphics and requirements have changed since then. Your computer is just too old. Get a new one, it´s about time.

edit: if you can´t afford one atm, check the temps. low RAM and integrated grahics means higher CPU load. On a Laptop this can cause overheating and CPU throttling which leads to heavy stuttering after a few minutes. You could try removing the case and replacing the thermal paste then. There is a chance that it helps a little but that doesn´t change the fact that you really need a new one.
