User skins problem

Decided to try "User Skins" after hundreds and hundreds of hours seeing only green and olive tanks... you know... punch it up a bit ( for my eyes only naturally I understand it doesn't transfer over serverside and I'm fine with that... ) so this:

First one went fine on a tank... decided to do all my tanks their nation's flag...
Next one all of a sudden no matter what I do it says "Sample" printed all over the tank..

What gives?

Thank you... just as long as I know it's not Gaijin doing it.

Edit:

I tried changing it back and the "SAMPLE" text didn't go away... so I kept on trying and then I had the original camo green with "SAMPLE" text on it... deleted it all and tried another image and that one works... still trying to get the hang of it. lol

there are skins available from 2015 that haven't been updated since - they won't work,,,
just like most skins that haven't been updated within the last year (or since the last graphics or model update) most likely. guess Gaijin should purge the live website every now and then to remove all the old / outdated stuff ^^

you should also be aware that those skins (even though they may be working now) may stop working pretty much at any time (update) or even worse may cause performance issues and even crashes (not saying they certainly will but there's always the chance...)

Oh no... this was self made skin that I just did...

Not really a "entire skin" i just "Make User Skin" in the game and edited over the "fr_camo_vert_olive_arme.tga" with a new image ( as shown in the artwork in my last post ) for the M39.

It's not fancy or anything... but it's just a bit of fun to relieve the boredom of seeing " camo_olive" or "camo_green" on every tank... and change it up with what was a BC logo on a partial French flag...

I think the problem was that the first one was a wallpaper that somehow was layered so that any copy / past evoked a "SAMPLE" text all over it so nobody could hotlink it? I think?

Strange enough even when I screen capped the image and overwrote it the "SAMPLE" text remained...

And stranger still when I overwrote it with the "fr_camo_vert_olive_arme" to go back to "Olive" color the "SAMPLE" text still remained...

So that shouldn't of happened... and I wasn't sure if it was the images I was using or that there was a limit to editing or "cooldown period" by War Thunder itself... because that shouldn't of happened it doesn't make any sense unless I somehow corrupted the .tga file by just overwriting it?

Now that I've messed around more.... I don't think it was War Thunder... I just think that with all the copyright craziness going on in the world 99% of what's on Google Image search is going to be copyrighted and going to give me issues... but I think I can work around it.

Yes I know there was some "skins" out there that could be downloaded and used... but there were too few and far-between to give me any interest... besides it's fun doing it myself... well, when I don't run into problems that is, lol.

Nope... tried to use the same skin on a second tank and now the "SAMPLE" text came back... *sigh* oh well, back to the drawing board.

So it can't be the image I used it and it was fine... it ~HAS~ to be War Thunder

Is it maybe because some of the .tga are 1024x1024 and some are 512x512?...

It seems like War Thunder is letting me change only one a day....

First one worked fine.

Second one has "SAMPLE" all over it again... yes, it's got to be War Thunder doing it, I'm pretty sure of it now.

Right...

On further investigation... it ~IS~ War Thunder... they're the ones putting "SAMPLE" all over

But it's not on the "camo_olive_arme.tga" but the "body.tga" and the other ".tga"s

For some reason it shows up with the "body" and sometimes the "camo" covers it but not the "body" images, and sometimes not... but only on some tanks, not all tanks it seems...

Deleteing the "SAMPLE" off the .tga and for some reason makes it put the "body.tga" now over the top of the "camo.tga" so the new coloring is now hidden underneath...

I don't get the rime or reason behind why it works on some and not others... or why taking "SAMPLE" off of the .tga then puts it on top of the camo.tga and not "bleed" through like with most other tanks... more investigations to come.
