Game won't launch when joystick is connected and freezes if you turn it on in-game.
Joystick - Speedlink Black Widow.
Game simply keeps the black screen when I try to launch it with joystick plugged in. When I plug it in in-game, game freezes as soon as I try to enter any battle or test flight.
Have absolutely no idea what to do with it...
Does anyone have any ideas about it?
Thanks!

check you have most up to date drivers.

something like snappy driver installer can help with that. https://sdi-tool.org/download/
use the lite version, youtube it if you need help.
what Windows version are you on ? (assuming you are using Windows at all ^^)

just asking because there seem to be a few players that just updated their Windows10 to the latest version (1903) and since get just a blackscreen on the start of the game and i wonder if it could be the same issue (connected joystick / gamepad etc) since i dont have any issue on my Windows10 system (dont have a joystick or gamepad ^^)

Using Windows 10 (oof)..Funny thing is that it isn't working only when I plug in the joystick. For the rest of time, when not using it, everything works perfectly fine.

I experienced this too after update to 1903. With previous windows version, all worked with joystick plugged in. After the update WT stopped starting with joystick connected, with a black screen. If I unplug the joystick, it works as expected. I have a Thrustmaster T16000, tried new drivers also, but still no luck. Anyone found a way to fix it?
you can rollback off 1903 or wait till the problem has been fixed.
lucabuster, It is the h1 rollout of Windows 10 that seems to be the issue. The Devs have been in contact with Microsoft about it. It only seems to affect early roll outs of the h1 update. As RedSector indicates all other versions of Windows do not have the issue. At this time the solution is to remove all controllers and joysticks, OR try and Update your Windows 10 again.. maybe roll it back even and then update it again. When the devs tried to replicate it by downloading the latest version they could not replicate it. But we have many such reports.

I solved it in the hard way. What screws joystick drivers is windows update, thus I created a new installation disk for Win 10 1903 and installed from scrach. Then reinstalled WT and Joystick drivers: it works now.

Just don't rely on broken Windows update: reinstall when switching OS version.
I am having the exact problem everyone else is having.
The issue with the Windows update.

Does anybody know if Gaijin is working to fix this issue? Because I am able to wait if they are.

(Also I am using a Thrustmaster Hotas X, I am pretty sure this issue is universal for (At least Thrustmaster) joysticks.)

As far as I know, Gaijin is not working on it at all, as it's Windows Update that in some way screwed your USB peripherals. Reinstalling Windows I solved, everything is working fine now.

Thanks, That's another way I have learned to fix this issue. :)

It is not a Gaijin issue as I have explained. It is a Microsoft issue. The Dev's have been in contact with Microsoft about it.

if you got Avast or AVG installed you could uninstall it and use the integrated Windows Defender.
several players reported that this fixed the issue for them.

I have Avast installed. Will Malwarebytes work?
