Can't argue there, no early jet should be higher than 11000 SL max, except for maybe the Hoho Dorito, and even then, I view the repair cost as a rather crappy way to balance something.
Not all cannons are created equal. 50 cal isn't that bad at all, you get API, and then on top of that, you still have a good ROF and muzzle velocity. Makes taking down opponents easy. Also, stock, soviet cannons are, or at least were notorious for being serious spark thunder.
As someone who spaded the MiG-9, I find this statement laughable, aside from dive and wingrip performance, I can easily get outperformed by most everything in early Tier V. You're pretty much equal with these guys in almost every way but fire power (the MiG can get some pretty good explosive kills, but the F-80 is easier to aim and rips apart other aircraft.)
It is a plane known for doing it. Yeah those guns can bite. Best you can do is catch one off guard. They are kill able.
Try soviets, if the runway is perpendicular to the airfield, you'll have at least 5 clowns do a turn to the middle of the runway, lawn mow, and attempt to do a vertical headon against anything with 50 cals, only to get sniped from 1.5km away. And it doesn't get any better with the MiG-15 either.
Compression does start to get a little out there starting at 7.0. The R2Y2's problem is that it is one of many planes that gets an airstart that shouldn't, or should be at least given a far lower spawn (adding to the list types like MiG-3, for example.)
Of course I wonder if they'll remove the R2Y2 from research eventually. I mean, the only reason we have the paper jets is simply because Gaijin had a year limit for tech. Problem is just that there isn't anything appropriate to replace them with aside from cold war turboprops that the Japanese used (P-3, US-1, etc.), and they would likely easily be food for other planes if placed at that BR.
Not too sure about Japanese bias, their planes in that part of the BR bracket are still reasonable to take care of. They do have a devastating 30mm cannon at that tier though. It is the biggest thing the R2Y2 has going for it.
