How do you invite a friend to missions?

Sounds like a simple enough thing to do but I can't get it to work. There is no in-game invite option, Steam invites doesn't work... Any ideas?

If invites doesn't work, how do you sort/filter the list of servers so you can join that way?

You click on the friends tab at the top next to meassages. Then add your friend by name or just use the add steam friend option. Then click on his name and at the bottom of the box is a little tab that has 3 planes that is the invite to squad button. Once he accepts he must ready up then it will automatically bring him into a game with you when you hit To Battle.

Squad invites works fine. But when I host a custom mission there is no invite option. Not in-game and not via Steam. Players can't join a game through Steam either. And since you can't be in a squad when you play missions (not battles) this becomes a problem.

You CAN manually search through the list of open lobbys but that is a real pain in the behind. One would think there is an option to filter the list by ping or something but so far I haven't found anything.

Perhaps me and my buddy are doing it wrong...

Create squad to the beginning of the mission? I'm not sure how right now, but once worked

If we are in a squad it says 'you are currently in a squad. Want to leave it?' or something as soon as I want to start anything other than Battles.

Not only that, but importing friends from steam is a ♥♥♥♥♥. Only lets you do 10 at a time, and they may not even have war thunder. Friends system is ♥♥♥♥.
