Id rather just have a map targeting system rather than birds-eye view, that way you cant just hop in birds eye and scout out tanks

Even without indirect fire though they still good

Oh yes, bombardment by grid would be excellent. :2016watermelon:

No....and certainly not the way SPGs are done in WoT because that's about the worst gameplay mechanic i've seen in any game...it can shoot you across the map and you have no way of self defense, none. Leave them like they are, derp tanks. They are doing just fine and introducing any new and unique mechanics to them would mean making them a separate class from TDs...

It worked fine in WoT. The self-defense you have is cover and counter battery which was always brutal. You also have airstrikes and calling for arty (med tanks, scout tanks)

Maybe giving a grey map where player can click on, let the crews calculate degrees and angle base on current position, then you fire accordingly, blindly, without seeing the result?

one of the worst parts of wot, I wouldn't say it's fine.

not even a bait post. this is kinda real

spgs suck. add a mechanic where spgs can be the artillery being called in. you mark on the map where u want to shoot and theres a rough guesstimate on your HUD about where to aim.

shouldnt be handheld though. it should rely on skill

"wahh cheaters" cheaters are gonna aimlock you and aimbot cycle you anyway. your opinion is redundant on cheaters
Black_Fox Nov 17, 2023 @ 1:00am
I think the maps are too small for that
Eftwyrd Nov 17, 2023 @ 3:02am
if you took the time to learn to actually aim with them as they are, difficult but far from impossible, you would realise the problem with this idea is the tiny size of maps and terrain mean just about anywhere you would want to shoot with your hypothetical overhead would be a dead zone where the short range, muzzle velocity and intervening terrain conspire to prevent shots reaching

and for those few vehicles like the avre that really do have a low enough muzzle velocity to work like a short range mortar you can already aim with the map grid, you can set range with the scroll wheel and have a map with known range between grid lines, you literally dont need anything else except a working brain

tldr; learn to use a vehicle before making inane suggestions, you should already have all the tools you need to make this work

WoT also has a spotting system. So SPGs actually have to work with other vehicles (Something that is already established as impossible in WT) to coordinate spotting. In WT everyone's rendered at the same time. I've also heard that SPGs aren't exactly appreciated in WoT either.

Do it like ARMA does it

Dedicated enlarged minimap you select coordinate to shoot at and the FCS does the rest

This doesn't work for several reasons but the main 2 are going to be maps are too small and vision is open. Unlike WoT, if someone is in your LoS you see them and in AB they'll get their markers and in RB your ally can just ping them and you'll rack up free kills requiring no skill. The indirect fire of WoT only works in context because vehicles that are literally next to you can be "invisible" due to the vision mechanics.

I do believe something along these lines would be for the best. Give the player a map to use and let them hit wherever they wish, but also let a direct fire mode for those that would rather use it like that or have no choice (An enemy close by for example).
Something like this being implemented would open the way to a whole new line of vehicles for Gaijin to add, such as the M7B1, Wespe, Sexton, among many others.
Edit: Many people make the comparison to WoT, but instead of doing it exactly like them, why not learn from their mistakes?
