Even without indirect fire though they still good
Oh yes, bombardment by grid would be excellent.
It worked fine in WoT. The self-defense you have is cover and counter battery which was always brutal. You also have airstrikes and calling for arty (med tanks, scout tanks)
spgs suck. add a mechanic where spgs can be the artillery being called in. you mark on the map where u want to shoot and theres a rough guesstimate on your HUD about where to aim.
shouldnt be handheld though. it should rely on skill
"wahh cheaters" cheaters are gonna aimlock you and aimbot cycle you anyway. your opinion is redundant on cheaters
and for those few vehicles like the avre that really do have a low enough muzzle velocity to work like a short range mortar you can already aim with the map grid, you can set range with the scroll wheel and have a map with known range between grid lines, you literally dont need anything else except a working brain
tldr; learn to use a vehicle before making inane suggestions, you should already have all the tools you need to make this work
Dedicated enlarged minimap you select coordinate to shoot at and the FCS does the rest
I do believe something along these lines would be for the best. Give the player a map to use and let them hit wherever they wish, but also let a direct fire mode for those that would rather use it like that or have no choice (An enemy close by for example).
Something like this being implemented would open the way to a whole new line of vehicles for Gaijin to add, such as the M7B1, Wespe, Sexton, among many others.
Edit: Many people make the comparison to WoT, but instead of doing it exactly like them, why not learn from their mistakes?
