Hard banned for "allowing" my account to be hacked.

To be clear im not trying to slander Gaijin, this is mainly a post to see if anyone has any suggestions on any further actions. I would absolutely love to continue to be a part of the WT community but i dont think i have the mental fortitude to restart on all of the progress i had in the game as i nearly had the US ground tree fully researched and was at 8.3 US aircraft. All of that took SO much time lol.

Post may look a tad familiar but i use to play strictly on Xbox and would just casually load in and play the game like i would any other xbox game. Meaning i simply made the required accounts and just simply played. WELL, over the course of 2023 i entered a fire academy and subsequent schooling so my attention was not focused on videogames. During that time i was hacked and the hacker ended up getting my account banned. I put a ticket in and was totally compliant as i have nothing to hide, gave them all the info they asked for thinking that it would be resolved as they would see that i myself was definitely not the one "cheating".

Instead i was just hit with the "your account security is your responsibility" because i had not been aware that 2FA was basically mandatory and i guess there is NO room for any negotiation. I even made the steps to correct the issue by enabling 2FA and even changing passwords, but they wouldnt have any of it.

So now all of my hundreds of hours of grinding and all the progress i made is just gone i guess and i do NOT have the mental capacity to do all of that grinding again. I really loved the game, it could be infuriating at times, but after a break (and maybe a heated rant post on reddit over game mechanics lol) i would be right back in. It just sucks that the one thing that gets me barred was goofing up on 2FA and not any actual "cheating" on my behalf.

Like the other guy said, Gaijin can't really tell if you were the one cheating or not. If they gave your account back, you'd just make every cheater start using a VPN when they start cheating to make it look like they all play from China and then claim they were hacked.

I know it sucks to lose the progress, and I 'spose youy don't feel like picking another nation up to make it less sour either, so either taking a break (for forever if that's so) or biting down and getting through with it are pretty much the options.
But at least it's gonna be quicker the next grind, since you're better at the game from the start, so at least there's that.

First of all take my award, i was not aware this hacker accusation thing was such a wildly hot topic and Ive had to sift through countless accusations across a couple different forums of me being the hacker/cheater and it gets kind of unproductive after a while lmao. Not looking for affirmation, just legit reasonable discussion without having to read the million-and-one reasons why im a dumbass.

Yeah, cheating is a hot topic in online games, and this particular bunch of players are very good at getting all riled up. This is the group of people known across the internet for posting confidential documents to win a forum argument, sooo yeah.

Yeah, they did push the 2FA kinda hard so I activated it after having played for a while, but most games I just don't give a flying ♥♥♥♥ about it. They probably don't make accusations because there is some wording in the EULA that says that it doesn't matter who did the cheating, the account gets the banhammer either way.

this wasnt some kind of data breach, it was just you and your poor security practice, so heres your advice, do better next time

While I definitely agree, dont let yourself get drug into any flame war on this post. It is not my intention to stir any pots and I would feel bad if anyone such as yourself hopped in and ended up in a thread war lol. Unfortunately theres those who just see things in black and white and dont have any intentions on understanding the middle ground or people with slightly more complex issues than just being a hacker or not.

I know that I was not hacking. But I cannot expect you guys to "know" that. But at the same time I'm not here to prove anything or convince anyone of anything. The only proving I would have to do is to Gaijin, not to a steam thread lol. If there are those who dont want to JUST conversate on a topic and instead throw accusations and assumptions, then I have no time or energy to spare on them.

Yeah I definitely do not have the patience to start from all the way back st the bottom. I wish it wasnt so but I'd say my time on WT ends here lol. Theres a multitude of unrelated reasons I was starting to become displeased with about the game. Primarily in the way they "balance" the game.
