Regarding the J21RA (which I assume applies to the A21RB, idk which one you have, the J21RA is just the A21 without rockets and less engine power), it actually is really good at fighting other jets. It’s a type of fighter you want to be around teammates, because it’s really good at maneuvering, you can dogfight in a furball and get multiple kills with it. Just remember to upgrade your crew’s G-tolerance stat and know when not to turn too hard, because you can black out easily doing hard vertical turns.
Some generic early jet stuff that does apply to it though is it won’t outmaneuver most propeller aircraft, props also will accelerate faster than it and can keep up with early jets in a dive (they just lack the top speed strait line), and since the J21 rips at ~750kph (which it can reach even in a very mild dive), it actually is a terrible jet to fight other props in. The best way to deal with propeller aircraft in the J21 is to have teammates or hope they’re at the same altitude as you do you can outspeed them. Otherwise, you have to hit your first shot against props on your attack run or pretty much you lost, they will our turn you, out accelerate you, and out dive you.
A quick summery playing the J21RA, and a little bit of the A21RB.
- build altitude & speed : maintain at the beginning a good angle to gain altitude AND to gain speed.
- Speed is really the key : try to not manoeuver too hardly, because you will lose speed & a slow jet is a dead jet.
- Altitude will permit you to chose your target, dive to crush it & go up faster just after thanks to the energy you accumulated.
- watch your 6, even more with some well-known jets that may have some missiles (some earlier jets may have missiles).
