It's supposed to take out tanks, at least that was its role in ww2, though in-game ppl use it to take out aircraft.

I think I'll try how it fares with ground attack ammo soon.

It was the poor man's response to the IL-2

those 37mm can shred a tank from the rear and top. Frontal will take time, especially heavy tanks.
HI ANON Dec 6, 2013 @ 4:33pm
it doesnt do any damage to tanks. It just gives you the generic "target undamaged" message.
Bunks Dec 6, 2013 @ 4:40pm
even a 50 cal can damage a medium tank from the rear. Although 100 rounds will bounce, before one gets thru. Keep in mind in the future those tanks will be actual players inside them being shot at by tanks with 37mm ATguns, and most rounds will bounce, but some will kill.

If they dont, then the devs have some splaining to do.

Bomb some tanks then. It is a dive bomber after all :)

the G2 or G1 doesnt carry a payload
only twin 37mm cannons

i suggest [AB] climbing high avoiding everything and go bomber hunting for a a few kills
after so dive in on unsuspecting players.
the ju87 in AB has ridiculous elevator control added that you have speed (say 300+ kp/h)
if you miss your first burst, just perform a loop with the elevators and you can out turn many planes (note that you need speed so really you can do this 2-3 times till you're in trouble)

learn those german 37mm cannons too (its muzzle velocity and ballistic drop)
once you're comfy you can easily take out any craft from distances of 50m to 800m

I figured all variants of the Stuka had payloads. Guess I was wrong.

yeah, the G series is labelled as "attacker" i believe
You can destroy light DOTs with this plane, by the way

i was not very sucsessfull with it on taking out tanks as it is designed to after 1.32 or so. Before i could kill tanks also with 20mm ;) What i used it then for is like the 410' series to hunt other heavy fighters or (mainly) bombers.

So i climbed mainly and hunted bombers, or went for light tanks. I recommend setting gun convergence to 700 or something more distant (not like 300 i use for any other plane) so you still have time to pull up if you shoot tanks (else you wont hit them if you dont shoot at convergence range) and you have a easier time shooting bombers since you are farther away from their guns :)

yeah i found it to be great for killing bombers. If you hit one your almost always going to crit it.

I found it to be terrible at attacking ground targets, rarely did was I able to kill anything other thank lightly armored targets. And even if I was able to kill anything, I never lasted long at low altitudes due to the 87s squishiness and slow speed. It is okay at talking out bombers, but there are other planes that can do the same thing far more effeicently, like the Ki-45. Ki-45 is far faster, more meanuverable, and the cannon is center mounted, making for a much more stable firing platform.

In the games current state I find the Stukas to be odd ducks. But I have a feeling that they'll come into their own when the teiring gets restructured and ground forces comes out. The precision dive bombing might be verrrry handy when attacking guys driving tanks around.

die "normal" stukas with e.g. 2x big 1x small bombload are excellent at taking out the heavy tanks on early lvl's, and in that they are even efficient in later stages. Some have good armament but that only helps you in head on turns or if you use the airbrake efficently in a turnfight you are forced into.

With the G2 you have to be like a MLG leet skill sniper to hit fighter, but same goes for other planes like the Yak 8K or the ♥♥♥ heavy fighters. The firing speed is to low to "zero" in while firinc, you basically have to hit when you fire.

I myself only used it for the 10 free repairs and then ditched it.
